5-1! WHOO!!! Never quit, never assume you lose, until the last play. What an end drive!

Nice side note: We held the Saints to 7 three and outs in 12 drives.

Aikman and Brenaman are the booth team

Pats P1: Start at the 23. It's an up and down drive. We start with a drop by Dobson, then Hooman gets a 14 yard catch. After a pair of runs, one a 5 yard scramble by Brady, we pick up a third down conversion with a 14 yarder to Julian. Blount gets 5, and Dobson gets 8. Brady missed Blount under pressure, and Edelman drops the secnd down play. On 3rd down, Brady does his Vick imimation and runs for 11. However, with a first and 10 on the Saints 15, it comes apart. Blount gets 7 on first down, loses 4 on second down, and Brady gets sacked on third. It was a coverage sack. We get the 35 yard FG. 3-0 Pats

Saints P1: Start at the 20. Three and out!

Pats P2: Start at the 11 after Julian screws up a lateral play. Talib saved it. I don't see the point. Play smart, don't gamble. We three and out. The key play was Brady throwing behind Amendola on 2nd down so Danny only got one yard on the play.

Saints P2: Start at the 27. They have an impressive drive. After it starts with a hold that sets up 1st and 20, the rest goes well. A 7 yard pass to Toon leads to a lovely screen to Thomas that gets 29. Watson gets a 25 yard pass on the next play. A Sproles run and a Brees incompletion leads to 3rd and 4. Another screen, to Sproles this time, gets 9 and sets up first and goal. Two Sproles runs get 4 yards (and a missed delay of game), then they find the rookie, Cadet, for the TD. 7-3 Saints.

Pats P3: Start at the 20. We stay on track. We lead with a 20 yard play to Dobson. Brady throws behind Edelman, who makes the catch and gets 6. Back to back Ridley runs gets 19, then a 22 yard play to Dobson ends the first. The second starts with Ridley losing a yard, but Dobson gets 9 on 2nd and 11, and then Lewis is called for PI on Dobson in the endzone (I would have called it holding). On first and goal from the 1, Dobson is stopped on a screen, but Ridley punches it in on 2nd. 10-7 Pats.

Saints P3: Start at the 24. Three and out.

Pats P4: Start at the 34. The offense is clicking! The drive starts off bad with Lofton sacking Brady and and a second down drop (and a declined hold on Mankins) bringing up 3rd and 18. But, Hooman picks up the first! Blount gets blown up for a loss of 4, then a Ridley screen gets 14 and a new first down. Ridley runs for 6, and KT gets 8, breaking a tackle on the process. Danny gets dropped for a loss of 1 on a screen, but a 15 yard sideline rope to Hooman gives us a first. Ridley runs for 4, Edelman catches an 8 yarder, then Ridley gets a 5 yard TD. 17-7 Pats.

Saints P4: Start at the 20. Three and out!

Pats P5: Start at the 31. We four and out. A Bolden 13 yard run, then a 3 and out.

Saints P5: Start at the 23. Saints moved the ball a bit. After deep throws to Toon and Graham were incomplete (and almost picked), they pick up a 3rd and 10 with a 16 yard play to Stills, then a 14 yard slant to Sproles. Sproles then had a drop, Thomas ran for 5, Sproles picked up 4. On 4th and 1, they go for it, and get called for False Start. I think it should have been offisdes on the Pats. Saints punt.

Pats P6: Start at the 13. We run the half out. 17-7 at the half.

Second half:

Saints P6: Start at the 20. Saints leave points on the field, After a three yard run, they hit thee big plays in a row, gaining 65 yards and getting to the Pats 11. Saints use a timeout, then Brees misses Sproles, Thomas runs for 2, Brees overthrows Toon, and they settle for a FG. 17-10 Pats.

Pats P7: Start at the 20. Three and out. We hit Dobson for 30, called back by a correct OPI Call. On 3rd and 13, Brady just overthrow Amendola on what would have been a TD. Danny was behind everyone with a 5 yard cushion. If Brady hits him in stride, it's six, all the way.

Saints P7: Start at the 33. Great drive. After a pair of 6 yard plays, one pass and one run, the Saints get back to back big runs from Thomas and Robinson for a total of 19. An 8 yard Thomas run is next, then passes to Collins and Colston for 13 and a first and goal at the 4. A miss to Colston is 1st and goal, the Robinson gets a sweet TD run. 17-17.

Pats P8: Start at the 8, after Blount runs it out and we get called for a block in the back. It's mostly a Ridley drive. 5 runs for 24, KT had a 21 yard catch and drew a 15 yard personal foul. However, Danny Amendola was hurt on an end around, and we settle for a 54 yard fg. 20-17 Pats.

Saints P8: Start at the 20. Three and out!

Pats P9: Start at the 42. Three and out. We get to the 4th, but they get the 5th sack of Brady.

Saints P9: Start at the 15. Three and out. Jones sacks Brees on second down and Arrington gets the pick on 3rd down.

Pats P10: Start at the Saints 20. All runs by Ridley and Bolden., But, we again leave points on the field, settling for a 23 yard FG. 23-17 Pats. On one play, there were offsetting penalties. 12 men on D and holding on O. But, 12 men on D is a dead ball foul, so there should have been no play. It's a minor error, in this case, but it is an error.

Saints P10: Start at the 19. Brees leads it off with a 16 yard run. The Saints use three plays to get 10 yards after that. Robinson has back to back runs for a total of 24. Thomas gets 8. That sets up a key sequence. On first and 10, Colston makes a 10 yard catch which is negated by holding. The Saints call timeout 2, and on 1st and 20 go to Graham in the end zone, but Arrington knocks the ball out. On second and 20, Brees goes to Sproles, but a hit by Gregory knocks the ball, Mayo, and Sproles out. On 3rd and 20, however, Brees hits Stills for a 34 yard TD. Dennard almost defended the pass. 24-23 Saints.

Pats P11: Start at the 20. 4 and out. 3 drops.

Saints P11: Start at the Pats 24. Three and out! They go for a 39 yard Fg make it. 27-23 Saints

Pats P12: Start at the 20. 2:24 and one timeout left
1st and 10: Brady intercepted by Lewis.

Saints P12: Start at the 33. Three and out. Brees sacked by Jones

Pats P13: Start at the 30, with 1:13 to play. Greatest Drive of the Season. Down 4, 73 seconds, no timeouts. Brady hits Julian for 23, Brady hits Austin Collie for 17. Brady hits Dobson for 6, and Dobson gets OOB. On second and 4, Brady throws low and missed Julian in the endzone. On 3rd and 4, Brady throws low and Julian fails to catch it at the 1. On 4th and 4, Austin Collie gets 8! We spike it with 10 seconds left. On the next play, Brady hits KT in the back of the endzone with 0:05 to play!

Pats Win! 30-27! 5-1 baby! Don't count us out!

3rd downs:

Pats: 6 for 15
Saints: 5 for 13

Awesome game indeed. Sorry I bailed from chat. I was pretty nervous/nauseous throughout. I don't know how you do, Amy.

Next task is to cut down on the injuries. Final toll isn't in yet, but that was brutal.

The Patriots had no business winning that game. They gave the Saints every chance to win, especially near the end, but they managed to pull it out nevertheless. Great win for them, although after watching that game, I am pretty convinced that the Patriots are not super bowl contenders.

Yeah, we had no business winning. We left 8 points on the field, when we took FGs over TDs twice. We held Graham and Colston to a combined *1* catch. But, we had no business winning. We held the Saints offense to 7 of 12 3 and outs. But, we had no business winning. The reality is that we almost gave the game away that we should have put away in the 3rd. So, keep sleeping on us. We're getting better every week.

Your wide receivers are not improving. Its frustrating Brady. Brady is trying to the best out of the piece of crap wide receivers that you have. You can't keep dropping balls as many easy catches as they are dropping and expect to win a Superbowl. Your team basically handed the game on a silver platter to the Saints at the end, and they gave it right back to you. Its a good game to win, and your defense is doing their job week after week. But this isn't a superbowl team with those wide receivers, no matter how good Brady is.

Pats won and because they won, they deserved the win.

Funny. The WRs are improving. Look at the evolution of their catch rate and their route running.

The biggedt issue I see is that they are way to vulnerable to runs up the middle without Big Vince and Tommy Kelly. My Bears are also very thin at DT, I dont see were we find veterans to play there. And UDFA dont yet have the weight of muscle to play there.
