Apparently, the Rams are going to be purchased by Stan Kroenke, who currently owns the Denver Nuggets and Colorado Avalanche, on the terms that he give up those teams by 2014. What does this mean for the Rams? Is this news good or bad in terms of the team staying in St. Louis?

For anyone interested, here's some information about him. Highlights:

Stan Kroenke's approach to business is perhaps best summed up by a fabulous anecdote about one of his wineries. He had just acquired the Screaming Eagle vineyard and one of their first decisions was to pour around £2 million worth of fine Napa Valley cabernet sauvignon down the drain. Why? Because of nagging concerns about its quality...It is clear that Kroenke is a man who pays attention to the impact of even the small details on the big picture. He is also someone with a permanent eye for the next opportunity and, according to one business associate, “the opportunities stemming from that opportunity”.

and:

Today, sports fans outside Denver may have no clue who he is. But Enos Stanley Kroenke (pronounced KRON-key), 61, is widely admired by fellow moguls as well as by a BusinessWeek panel of experts, who voted him among the most influential people in the business of sports in the magazine's soon-to-be-published Power 100 special report.

The NFL has rules against cross-ownership. They're pretty tight about who they let take on the risky, expense laden ownership of an NFL franchise. Sarcasm. It's the second best asm.

If Carroll Rosenbloom had lived longer, the Rams would still be in LA. I always wondered if Georgia Frontiere was the inspiration for the character in Major League.
