Yay. Not a nice win, but a win. Defense stepped up nicely since the offense decided to take the day off. Let's not forget to give credit to Norv Turner for not teaching his guys what a fumble is. Chargers Defense played well, and Brady was pedestrian.

Our offensive balance and playcalling were also off. 37 pass plays, 23 running plays. The 37 pass plays had one clear throw away and 4 sacks. What were the other 32?

Branch: 9 targets, 4 catches. Non factor all day long.
Hernandez: 8 targets, 5 catches, but one of them was negated by his own OPI.
Welker: 6 targets, 4 catches. Normal Wes day.
Tate: 3 targets, 1 catch. The plays that went Tate's way were just not well designed. He needs more looks and real routes.
Woodhead: 3 targets, 3 catches. Gold. Pure gold.
The Gronk: 2 targets, 2 catches, 1 TD
Morris: 1 target, 0 catches.

Branch reverted to being Deion Branch. The Pats *really* missed Moss. We never turned anyone into a deep threat all game, and they took Branch out of the game, after his one good quarter last week. Pats need to decide who the deep guy will be, Tate or Hernandez, and do a deep pass to that guy at least once a quarter. Good defenses - and the Chargers D is good - can take away two Welker type players, which is what we have with Welker and Branch.

The running game was meh. Green Ellis: 11 carries, 24 yards, 1 TD and Woodhead: 8 carries, 17 yards. But, some of the running play calls were suspect. A good example was 4th and 1 with 9 Chargers in the box. We tried to run Green Ellis up the middle and they stopped it. Brady needs to realize that play is dead, and audible to a fast tight end pass for the yard, or dump to the single covered wideout and let him get that one yard, or even a big play if the one defender misses.

Overall we played about as bad as we can on offense and we still won. Ugly win, yes, but a win.

Brady has got to be salivating as he waits for Minnesota's secondary to limp into town.

The defense of the Chargers was awesome. The offensive genius that is the Norvinator is the one who screwed the pooch. The McCourty pick was one of the best plays I've seen by a DB wearing the patriots uniform since Asante Samuel.

Only thing that would make him salivate more is hearing Fred Smoot's arriving by boat haha

Secondary might be salivating at the thought of playing against Tarvaris Jackson.

I wanna hear Simmons and Sal RIP Tavaris and Simmons praise Freeman...that's all I want out of this weeks podcast haha...and yeah, Tavaris is not good...Bears haven't played them yet, so who knows...maybe 1 game against Tavaris and one against Brett if he decides he hasn't had enough?
