• Two Down, Five to Go: Poe, Kalil Sign

Earlier today we told you that only seven players selected in the 2012 NFL Draft had yet to sign contracts. That number is down to five.

The Kansas City Chiefs have signed #11 overall pick DT Dontari Poe and the Minnesota Vikings have come to an agreement with #4 overall pick T Matt Kalil.

From Josh Looney at KCChiefs.com: "The training camp arrival of Chiefs first-round draft pick Dontari Poewon’t be delayed.

The 11th overall pick in the 2012 NFL Draft inked his rookie deal today, bringing all eight of Kansas City’s draft picks under contract.

Poe, like all first-round draft picks, agreed to a four-year deal with a fifth-year team option. Per team policy, financial terms of the deal were not disclosed."
From Jeremy Fowler at TwinCities.com: "The Minnesota Vikings signed fourth overall pick Matt Kalil on Thursday, July 26, the same day the team is reporting to training camp at Minnesota State Mankato.

The rookie left tackle's deal includes a fourth-year guarantee, according to a person close to the situation. That reportedly had been the sticking point to a deal."
This leaves #5 overall Justin Blackmon (Jaguars), #8 overall Ryan Tannehill (Dolphins), #20 overall Kendall Wright (Titans), # 95 Tony Bergtsrom and #168 overall Juron Criner(Raiders) left to put pen to paper and get out on the practice field.

So that's what Poe wanted. The 5th year option is only for the top 10 picks.

I think that Kalil will do well with the Vikings. I know that USC guys haven't been robust in the NFL as of late but he appears to be a hard worker who will have a nice rookie year. Next year is his turn to guarantee a Super Bowl for MIN. LOL!
