  • Braylon Edwards Works Out for the Dolphins

Wide receiver Braylon Edwards has had what many would consider a disappointing NFL career. The former number three overall pick had one big season with the Cleveland Browns in 2007 catching 80 passes for 1,289 yards. The rest of his time in Cleveland Edwards turned out several middling seasons never justifying his draft position. Then in 2009, after an altercation with a member of Lebron James' entourage, the Browns traded him to the New York Jets where he played through the 2010season. After yet another disappointing year in 2011, this time with the San Francisco 49ers, Edwards has again become a free agent.

Now, in hopes of catching on in South Florida, Edwards has reportedly worked out for the Miami Dolphins.

Ross Tucker @RossTuckerNFL "Braylon Edwards worked out for Dolphins, according to Hard Knocks supervising producer Ken Rodgers on @SiriusXMNFL."
Armando Salguero @ArmandoSalguero (Miami Herald) "The Dolphins have worked out [Braylon] Edwards as Hard Knocks reported. He's healthy and a SERIOUS option to be signed."
It is interesting that the Tucker tweet is based on word from a Hard Knocks producer. One of the hard knocks on Braylon Edwards has long been that he is more interested in the limelight than in helping his team(s) win football games.

They signed Chad Johnson/Ochocinco/Johnson. Why not see if you can light a fire under Edwards? Next will be Plaxico and TO.

Edwards has been a huge disappointment thus far. Having watched every snap he ever played at Michigan, I can tell you that this kid had all the physical tools to be a stud in the NFL. But questions about his work ethic and commitment to winning have been chasing him around since his sophomore year. Edwards was always a little too concerned with his image and none too worried about his on-field production beyond making it onto SportsCenter, the eleven o'clock news and the sports page of the Detroit Free Press. It was like he took all that talent for granted expecting to be able to coast on its coattails. As we all know, that kind of attitude doesn't cut it in the NFL.

Well, if Braylon does wind up with MIA & through camp it would be his second stint on Hard Knocks; so there's that. LOL! He's in a place in his career where teams will likely want him in if they feel they need a veteran to add experience or they are depleted at the position and want someone who can add to the roster. The drops, the DUI and maybe some behind the scenes info. is what appears to have caused the lack of interest so strongly. MIA just might be free spirited enough to sign him.

Oh, these Dolphins could be as entertaining as the Jets.
