• Gregg Williams Reinstated and Hired

Bountygate, the NFL's public relations Jenga, had another piece placed on top of the learning tower when the league reinstated former New Orleans Defensive Coordinator Gregg Williams, who apparently fostered a bounty program in the Bayou. The end of his suspension was about as surprising as the next news that came out about Williams.

The next headline came fast enough that reporting agencies did not bother with the time needed to write separate articles. Williams was re-hired into the league as a senior assistant coach for the Tennessee Titans defense. Obviously, his attacking style that is designed to harrass opposing quarterbacks and force turnovers is a paramount philosophy to combat the new NFL filled with more and more offense and offenses that provide a plethora of new wrinkles.

Let's forget that an annoucement that quick obviously meant that a man on suspension was negotiating for a job prior to his meeting with the league. It may not be the best idea for the league to see a man hired that quickly who was suspended by a league promoting player safety for supporting something against that very idea.

Also, when an off-season of coaching hires led to such terms as "whitewash" along with discussion for an extension of the Rooney Rule, it probably is not good to see a move that supports the old boys club stereotype. Of course, the league can't tell the Titans who to hire, but Tennessee management did no favors for some of the negative publicity the league has received recently.

Screw the bounties, he should have been banned for wrecking the Bills.

Well, if the NFL banned all the guys who have helped screw up the Bills, maybe then minority hires could become the majority.

Yeah, but he was first. Him and Donohoe at the same time, maybe, but he is least half the face that did it. Dumped Ted Washington, grabbed Mike Williams, etc. I will stop now.

I take this as a sign of what the NFL thinks of Roger Goodell. Raspberries are heard.
