Benny Arnold, a 2nd round draft pick in 1981, signed a one-day contract in a ceremony at Bengals' headquarters before being whisked off to prison by sheriff's deputies. In a brief, mostly unintelligible speech, Arnold said that he always felt like a Bengal at heart, even though he never actually played in a regular season game for the team that drafted him. "Let me die in this old uniform in which I fought my battles. May God forgive me for ever having put on another," said the confused and possibly intoxicated former player.
Arnold was sentenced to 2 years in prison after being found guilty of 3 counts of regicide.
