• Commish Report: Week 1 FF Rankings/Open Thread

Week 1 is officially upon us. This is your week 1 Fantasy Football Open Thread. All topics fantasy football should be discussed herein. This includes discussion about your team. It's common to hear that "no one cares about your fantasy team". False. I CARE ABOUT YOUR TEAM! Please post anything regarding your fantasy team, league, or general thoughts in the comments below.

*This includes any and all FP Leagues.

**If you are a guest, or a silent member on this site, please feel free to join the conversation below. Our community is always looking to grow, and you (yes YOU!) are the key piece toward achieving that goal.

Posted below are the week 1 rankings. I'll update these rankings as needed. If you would like to discuss the rankings, your week 1 questions, or any fantasy football topic in general, this is your place to do it. In general, any 'Player X vs. Player Y' debate is addressed in the rankings, but feel free to inquire about rankings explanations, or about any FLEX play questions you may have.

Let's bring the conversation to the front page.

I'm still trying to decide between a WR or Gio Bernard in my flex spot for our dynasty league. My possible combinations are Kendall Wright and Bernard, Emmanuel Sanders and Bernard or Wright and Sanders. Not sure where to go with this one.

Bernard feels like a start right away guy. He can put pressure on the young Bears linebackers. I would think he has to be part of the game plan. I am not playing you and I am not pretending to be an expert, but my advice is Bernard and Sanders. I don't trust Jake Locker at all.

Dynasty league: I am looking at starting Rodgers for sure. And Julio Jones. The rest, I could use some help with.

I would agree Rich if he played for someone who wasn't Marvin Lewis. Marv does strange things with rookies sometimes. He doesn't always want to play them.

      DYNASTY UPDATE:

mike has made his picks. He's grabbing Ted Ginn and Robert Meachem, and released Mike Goodson and Knowshon Moreno.

The first waiver claims SHOULD run tonight, so get your first bids in. I think I have things set up correctly, but won't know for sure until after they've officially run.

Waiver claims will run every Wednesday and Saturday at 8 PM (EST). If the claims do not run properly tonight, I'll try to reset the claims and rerun them later this evening. However, I don't anticipate any problems.

I think it merely comes down to them being able to do the job. Plenty of rookies have started for Marvin, plenty haven't.

Dunlap is the big example everyone points to, and that's because he couldn't defend the run.

The better Bernard gets at pass pro, the more he'll play.

And what do we do when you OD on meth tonight after the 82nd Pirate victory? I assume I would have to take over.

Tubbs- Bernard and Sanders. I think Bernard is going to have an impact right away, so I'd probably start him, even though it's a tough matchup with Chicago. With Wright still fighting injury, and not guaranteed to play week 1, I'd lean Sanders. Honestly, even if Wright were healthy, I still may prefer Emmanuel Sanders.

You are the Adam Silver of the FP Dynasty league, so yes. If I were to OD on meth, or any other controlled substance, you would take over.

Big Man- What's your roster? You're going to make me do the work to look it up?

Most of your decisions should be relatively clear. And a quick peak at your roster (because I'm a nice guy) tells me that you have it set up correctly. The only possible addition would be Michael Bush, but I like Bell and Rudolph in your FLEX both better than him.

I would love to be an uber-dork like him some day. *Sigh*

      Team Biggie-

QB - Aaron Rodgers, Andy Dalton, Michael Vick, Phillip Rivers
RB - Reggie Bush, Ben Tate, Joique Bell, Michael Bush, Toby Gerhardt, John Kuhn, Donald Brown, Rex Burkhead
WR - Julio Jones, Kenny Britt, Steve Smith, Jason Avant
TE - Vernon Davis, Kyle Rudolph
      K - Justin Tucker
      D/ST - Seattle Seahawks

Just a reminder to get those lineups in, whether for the Perfect Challenge on NFL.com (sign up for the group "Cris Collinsworth", your FP fantasy league, or any other league you may be in.

All FP leagues have a roster deadline that's 5 minutes prior to kickoff for each individual player.

FWIW, I believe Bernard will get significant touches for most of the year barring injury. If he's in the game, it's not going to be because he can pick up a blitzer for Dalton. It's to get a touch or to decoy. I'd start him Week 1.. watch what happens... and react accordingly. My .02

In my home league, Peyton has put up a 69 point night. Of course those 69 points have come at my expense. Well, at least the other guy didn't have Demaryius Thomas. (But he does have Wes Welker...)

Add Torrey Smith and Matt Prater, and I'm only down 114 heading into Sunday.

Wow.. It had to happen to someone. I dodged him in all the leagues I care about.

Eric Decker owners can't be feeling too good this morning. It's akin to a Dustin Pedroia owner seeing that the Sox put up 20, yet Pedroia went 0 for 3.
