• Top 10 10/Bottom 5 - Week 12!

Well once again we find ourselves talking about a week in the NFL where "Not For Long" seems appropriate. Nothing seems clear in this year's NFL. Denver getting blown out by the Rams? That really just happened?? Yes, yes it did. In total, 4 teams in last week's Top 10 went down this week, and 3 of those 4 got blown out.

    ESPN Stats & Info @ESPNStatsInfo · Nov 16

Peyton Manning had his NFL record of 15 straight games with at least 2 Pass TD snapped today vs the Rams.
Not gonna lie, after the top 4 this week got quite difficult. There's simply little consistency from most teams in the NFL this year. Still, at the top of the rankings we see elite QB's, and Drew Stanton. Bruce Arians deserves Coach of the Year, just for what he's doing with Drew Stanton. Journeyman Stanton doesn't have a great completion percentage (53.1%), but this year he's 3-1 with a better than 2:1 TD:INT ratio.

Fresh off their big win in Cincinnati, the Browns fell flat at home against the Texans. Fresh off their big loss in Cincinnati, the Bengals went to New Orleans and blew out the Saints, who never lose at home let alone twice in a row. The Steelers squeak by another low run team after mailing in the first 3 quarters against the Titans.

Current AFC North: 1st time in NFL history that every team in a division is at least 2 games above .500 at least 10 gms into season (Elias)
The Chiefs keep rolling along, taking down the defending champs, and the Patriots keep rolling by blowing out another contender. If the playoffs started today, the Patriots would be the #1 seed and have blowout wins over the #2, #3 and #4 seeds. The Packers, are just blowing out everyone these days. In Brady and Rodgers we trust.

    ESPN Stats & Info @ESPNStatsInfo · Nov 17

Aaron Rodgers has thrown 29 straight TD passes at home without an INT, the longest such streak in NFL history according to @EliasSports.

OK enough babble, let's get to the rankings!

    Top 10

    1. New England (1) - another week, another impressive win for the Patriots. The team that we once thought had one foot in the coffin, is now 8-2 and has essentially a 2 game lead for the #1 see in the AFC thanks to wins over Denver, Cincinnati and Indianapolis.

    ESPN Stats & Info @ESPNStatsInfo · Nov 17

Rushing touchdowns in Week 11:Jonas Gray (NE): 4Chiefs: 3

Rest of NFL: 1 (GB's Eddie Lacy)
    2. Green Bay (4) - Rodgers once said R-E-L-A-X, but now maybe he should be telling fans to get E-X-C-I-T-E-D. The Packers are arguably the best team in the NFC at the moment, if not the entire NFL. Statworthy: Green Bay is the first team to score 28 or more points in the first half of four consecutive home games.

In the first half of the Packers' past four home games, they have outscored their opponents 128-6.
    3. Arizona (3) - another quality win for the Cardinals, but you wonder how long they can keep this up. You'd have to think the Packers have the edge over them right now, and I'd love to see them play the Lions again on a neutral field.

    4. Denver (2) - man, what happened to the Broncos this week? I know Thomas and Sanders got hurt, but there's still so much talent on that team. A day like today should never have happened.

    Andrew Siciliano @AndrewSiciliano · 2h2 hours ago

The 7 points scored by the Broncos are the fewest in a regular season game started and finished by Peyton Manning since Week 13 2001.
    5. Detroit (7) - As I said above, I'd love to see them face the Cardinals on a neutral field. Two strong defenses, and with Palmer out the Lions have the better offense. Statworthy: On Sunday Matt Stafford became the fastest QB ever to 20,000 yards (71 games)

    6. San Francisco (6) - the 49ers struggled again, but were able to take care of the Giants. Kaepernick completed just 51.7% of his passes, which actually bested Eli Manning's 48.8%. Statworthy: the 49ers gained just 6 points on 3 redzone trips Sunday.

    7. Dallas (9) - the Cowboys had a well-deserved bye this week after their win in London week 11. Hopefully Tony Romo got plenty of rest and relaxation. They are nothing without him.

    8. Kansas City (10) - a very solid win for the Chiefs over the defending champs. They ran all over the Seahawks. Statworthy: The Chiefs still have 0 TD's by their receivers on the year. Bonus Statworthy: They have yet to give up a rushing TD on the season.

    9. Indianapolis (5) - the Colts should definitely be worried about their defense at this point. Further, they should be concerned about injuries to Ahmad Bradshaw and Dwayne Allen, two of their best offensive players this year. Statworthy: Andrew Luck has thrown for 300yds in 8 straight games. The NFL record is 9, held by Drew Brees (on two separate occasions).

    10. Philadelphia (8) - this week the Philly defense was back to who we thought they were, not very good.

    ESPN Stats & Info @ESPNStatsInfo · Nov 16

The Eagles have allowed 53 points so far, the most they've allowed since November 26th, 1972 (a 62-10 loss to the Giants).
    HONORABLE MENTIONS

Pittsburgh - it wasn't the most inspiring of wins, but the Steelers corrected things with enough time to take care of the Titans. Despite trailing for much of the game, they got the ground game going in the 2nd half, with Bell gaining 204yds on the ground in the game. Statworthy: The Steelers blitzed on an astonishing 62.5% of Mettenberger's dropbacks Monday night.

    ESPN Stats & Info @ESPNStatsInfo · 4h4 hours ago

Antonio Brown was 3 receptions from the NFL lead last season. He has a good cushion over No. 2 this season

Cincinnati - Andy Dalton followed up the worst passer rating of his career with his best passer rating of his career. The Bengals are now 4-1 following a game in which Andy Dalton has a sub 50 passer rating. Statworthy: The Bengals snapped the Saints 28 game streak of scoring at least 20 points at home.

Miami - the Dolphins took care of business on Thursday night, dispatching fellow playoff contender Buffalo. The win puts the Dolphins in solid position for the playoffs as they currently hold the #6 seed in the AFC. Statworthy: the Dolphins are 2nd in the NFL in forced turnovers.

    Bottom 5

    28. New York Jets (28) - the Jets had a bye this week, so no chance for them to move up. Think they miss Sanchez yet?

    29. Tampa Bay (31) - nice dominant win in Washington this week, but they are still just a 2 win team. Mike Evans has been a slam dunk pick so far. He and Vincent Jackson could be a special duo if the Bucs find the right duo. Statworthy: the Bucs blitzed RGIII on just 4 of 42 dropbacks Sunday, but sacked him twice during those 4 blitzes.

    30. Tennessee Titans (30) - they had a great chance to win in Pittsburgh Monday night and make it out of the Bottom 5, but they blew it and got run over. That's what teams in the Bottom 5 do.

Zach Mettenberger's 80-yd TD to Nate Washington was 2nd-longest Pass TD by Titans/Oilers rookie since Jacky Lee in 1960
    31. Jacksonville Jaguars (29) - like the Jets, no chance for the Jags to move up on the bye week. Hopefully their bevy of young talent used it learning in the classroom.

    32. Oakland Raiders (32) - another close game, another loss. What else can you say about the Raiders at this point? Statworthy: The Raiders are the quickest team to be eliminated from the playoffs since the 2004 Dolphins.

Good for him. We are about 30 years past due for a paradigm shift, though. 300-yard games are a dime a dozen, unless you're playing for the Panthers. Andrew Luck is absolutely everything, but if the Colts can't beef up the running game and play defense every week, they will probably still win that sucky division but they won't last long in the playoffs. Interesting that Josh Cribbs had a higher YPC last season than Trent Richardson has this season. I don't blame TR entirely. The Colts don't run block. They just don't.

I love this win for the Bengals, but we need to bear in mind that the Saints only look like a good team when compared to the rest of the NFC South.
