• FootballPros.com 2015 Upset Special: Wild Card Playoff Edition

Last week was our best ever overall performance here at the FP Upset Special. 8-2 picking upsets is no joke. It was a wild week and we pretty well nailed it.

    Bills (+3) -- Amy, Brian
    Seahawks (+6.5) -- Rich
Saints (+4) -- Matt, ScottDCP, Raven
    Eagles (+3.5) -- hobbes27
    Vikings (+3) -- Me

Sweet. We love picking ummm.... winners? Yup.

Off to the 2015 Wild Card Round. Note the relaxed point differential requirement (+2). Also note the addition of the All Upsets option.

There are some real intriguing upsets available this weekend. Let's get to steppin'.

    STANDINGS

    Rules:
    • One pick per week
    • Your chosen team must be at least a (+2) underdog (Only games listed in this column are eligible)
    • Your chosen team must win the game outright (no 'pushes' or 'covers')
    • Season winner is the one with the most upsets correctly chosen between Week #1 through the Conference Championship Games (20 weeks all together)
    • There will be a points system to determine a winner in the event of a tie
    • Points will be accumulated by adding the game spreads for your correct picks (if you take Carolina (+4.5) and Carolina wins, you will be awarded a win and 4.5 points). Be careful making picks based on the number of points possible. Points only count if you are tied for the total wins lead when the whole contest is finished.
    • The No Upsets Option: Predict correctly that 'No Upsets' will occur in any given week and you will be awarded one win and a point total equal to the sum of all the spreads in that week's Upset Special. If you wish to exercise the 'No Upsets' Option, that prediction is due by 5 minutes prior to kickoff of the first game of the week in question. This includes Thursday Night Football or Saturday games. The 'No Upsets' option is confined to the Upset Possibilities listed in this article.
    • The All Upsets Option: Predict correctly that 'All Upsets' will occur in any given playoff week and you will be awarded one win and a point total equal to the sum of all the spreads in that week's Upset Special. If you wish to exercise the 'All Upsets' Option, that prediction is due by 5 minutes prior to kickoff of the first game of the week in question. The 'All Upsets' option is confined to the Upset Possibilities listed in this article.
    • Picks are due no later than 5 minutes before the scheduled start of the broadcast time for your game. The FootballPros.com time stamp on your post is gospel.
    • Spread lines, once posted, will remain static throughout the week. This isn't The Sports Book at Caesar's Palace, after all.

      Vikings

Barr played 10% of the snaps int heir first meeting. Harrison Smith 15%. And Linval Joseph missed the whole game. This is adiffernt D the seabastards will be facing.

Alos, I should have remembered to pick somebody last week...

I think Seattle wins, but I agree that the Vikings are being incorrectly dismissed as having no shot. A healthy defense, sub-0 temps, and a gambling theory that favors defenses and the under in a rematch game (55% historically, with the under hitting on 11 of the 16 rematches in week 17) keep this game very close.

One other thing to keep in mind for the Vikings is the West Coast team playing at 10 a.m. in the freezing cold.

Anybody who is dismissing any wild card team of having no shot is an idiot, as far as I am concerned. People are in love with Seattle because they are playing really well right now and have appeared to gel and because Seattle smacked Minnesota in the mouth the last time they played. All that is rather meaningless once kickoff starts. Especially considering the time and temperature of the game.

Let's not overlook Seattle getting smacked in the mouth by the Lambchops two weeks ago. They are not unbeatable.

The Vikings D has legit playmakers at every level. My issue is wether or not Teddy B can throw enough to get Petersen some space.
