• Happy 75th Abe Collinsworth

    I just got home from a great weekend with my Mom and Dad celebrating Dad's 75th birthday. He is a fan of the site and knows you guys by name (we have arrived). Dad played on the 1958 National Championship team at the University of Kentucky under Adolph Rupp. He was also my High School principal at Titusville Astronaut High School in Florida. (It was great reading about my father on the bathroom walls).

    We played golf over the weekend, he almost shot his age and I shot more than double mine. He is without a doubt one of the coolest guys I have ever met in my life. People love him the minute they meet him. When he first came to Fort Thomas, Kentucky (my current home) the only debate was whether they wanted to appoint him Superintendent of Schools, or elect him Mayor. He instantly connects with everyone. He has touched so many lives in a way that people remember for a lifetime. Please join me in a very special birthday greeting for my Father, Mr. Abe Collinsworth. Love you Dad.

      HAPPY BIRTHDAY PAPA COLLINSWORTH!!!! You sound like a Cool Dude and you raised your son right with the (original) Mrs. Collinsworth. I'm glad that God Blessed you to see a youthful age of 75 years old. Keepin' Truckin On Good Sir.

      Worst punishment ever? My brother and I got into trouble for something (not rare) on a Saturday. We were prepared to take our whipping and go on about our business. Dad decided that this bright sunny day would be a great opportunity to educate his young sons. We spent that entire glorious Saturday in our room listening to him read "How to Win Friends and Influence People." Cruel and Unusual punishment indeed.

      There are a handful of people that, as soon as you meet them, you know what they do. If you're ever lucky enough to meet Abe Collinsworth, you will know within minutes that he was and still is an educator. Happy Birthday Abe.
