Breaking: Deal in principle for Leon Washington in Seattle
Seattle Seahawks running back and special teams star Leon Washington has agreed to a new deal.
"I have a deal in principle on a 4-year contract for Leon Washington," said agent Alvin Keels in breaking the news Tuesday morning.
ESPN's Adam Schefter reports that Washington has agreed to terms on a deal worth about $12.5 million with a max value of $16 million. Sources add that the guaranteed portion of the agreement is $3.5 million.
Washington was traded to Seattle in April 2010 reportedly for a fifth-round pick in the 2010 NFL Draft.
As a running back in 2010, he logged 100 yards on 27 carries but amassed 1,461 yards as a kick returner. That included two return touchdowns against the Chargers in September.
He averaged 11.3 yards per punt return the same season.
