  • FP first round draft game - rules and regulations

As with everything else, we are making this up as we go. Here's what I have come up with, feel free to chime in with suggestions.

Cris will post an article on the front page. All picks will be made in the article comments.

In your post, state the player and the pick number (#1 - Pat Devlin, or something along those lines).
When the pick is to, or on the way to, the podium, I will make a post "Pick #1 is in". Your official pick will be your last pick before that post. Don't wait until the last moment, once the pick is going up, you're potentially done.

I you edit any post, you will forfeit that pick. I realize that the 'edit' message has a timestamp, but for simplicity sake just don't edit any posts. Figuring out a winner will be tough enough already.

In the event of a trade - if the trade is announced but not the player drafted, you can change your pick. If the trade and the pick are announced in one continuous motion, you are stuck with who you took for the original team.

Scoring will be based on total correct picks. For each pick I will start at the post "pick n-1 is in" through "pick n is in", if your choice was made either before of after those markers, it will not count.

At the end of the night, we won't have the slightest idea who won. I'll go through the entire thread in the coming weeks and months and determine a winner. Everyone else is welcome to do the same. If we come up with different winners (and I'm sure we will) you can go through pick by pick and make your case.

This has a high potential for being a disastrous mess, but our disastrous messes are usually a lot of fun.

Sadly, I may have to miss this competition. I will predict the following however - if the Panthers grab Cam Newton, they'll be in a great position to trade the Andrew Luck pick 12 months from now.

Sounds great. About the 2drink minimum. Do we have a ruling when the "2 Drink Minimum Year" starts?

And since we are joking around, please don't drink and drive. It really makes posting while you are driving so slppy an ful of speling errrorrss.

For those of you that insist on turning this into a drinking game (and you know who you are) I suggest taking a drink for punishment every time you pick wrong and a celebratory drink every time you pick correctly.

My first post here (hi from Auckland, NZ, where the sun is shining!)

I thought long and hard and decided production counts:
With the #1 pick of the 2011 NFL Draft, the Carolina Panthers will select

BLAINE SUMNER, COLORADO SCHOOL OF MINES

Does the QB from the Colorado School of Mimes go on a Silent Snap Count?

The RB from the Colorado School of Mites can fit through any hole.

I hear they produce some great MLBs at the Colorado School of Mikes... and I should stop now.

Well, I will make it official. The first pick of the draft will be Cam Newton to the Panthers.

Is the pick right if we get the player even if a team trades at the last minute?

Also, Blog entry was edited to show the full two-round mock for the podcast.

Yes it is, assuming I know what you mean. If you pick Patrick Peterson going 7th overall to the 49ers and the Texans trade up and take Patrick Peterson, you got the pick right.

Yep, That's what I was going for.

If I get Blaine Sumner right surely I win the competition though? Without having to make another pick? That should be the rule!

If Blaine Sumner goes first overall the game is over, you win. I think that's fair.
