For my quartebacks

Rate this Entry
1. I want you to be able to call your own plays.
2. Accuracy under pressure
3. Decision making under pressure
4. Mobility in the pocket
5. Not a douchebag
6. Physical, mental, and emotional toughness.

If you don't have 2 through 6, I will always be looking for someone who does. That said, I value continuity and consistency, so if you are a middle of the pack guy who lacks some polish, say a little less mobile or a little too aggressive, I am not likely to replace you with, for example, another middle of the pack guy who has those things but can't hit the broad side of a barn while moving and is an ass. Your replacement will be better than you.

Number 1 is a bonus, but I love to think it is a viable option. I don't need you to design an offense or scoutopponentsall day every day, but I do want you to be confident enough in your knowledge to run a two min sue drill without input from coaches, to give us more speed, and to take advantage of what you are seeing right now instead of waiting for the next series.

At the very least, I want you to be able to communicate the game plan to your teammates without them having to hear it from the OC. Ideally, OCtalks to you And then you run the installation.

How do you measure douchebaggery? Because from what I can tell, Jay CUtler is the same guy he has always been, but this eyar the TV crews show him celebrating and cheering from the sidelines, and not hims standing quietly.

I would quietly poll some offensive linemen. Ross Tucker once wrote that he would beat somebody up if they hit Drew Bledsoe late, but not if they did so to JP Losman. That reaction is my dividing line.

I am assuming that it is a combination of personal and professional respect.

You know Big Ben's OL would drive through a wall for him. But I like this answer, a poll of the OL. It's quite telling that Manziel got no backing from Joe Thomas. A no comment on the demoting to third string was apropirtae, but he actually said "we support our coaches"
