Thread: Where is Eli ranked among NFL QBs?

  1. Where is Eli ranked among NFL QBs?

I say 3rd. Btw, congrats to the Giants! You guys sure opened up a can of whoop-butt on us and finished the job.

    Rodgers is #1
    Brees is #2
    Eli is #3
Ben is #4 (insert Peyton here if he is healthy and plays as well as he did before his injury, then slide Ben down)
    Brady is #5

Eli is pretty clutch in the playoffs, but he has too many abysmal games during the regular season to be #3. I would definitely put Peyton, Brady, and Big Ben ahead of him.

Let's keep in mind that the Giants offense only scored 19 points against a bad defense today as well. Eli is a good QB, but he's not at the same level of consistency that Rodgers, Brady, Brees and a healthy Peyton yet (though, I do not think Peyton will be the same player he was). I would take him ahead of everyone else though this year.

A bad defense, Ben ripped for over 300yds when they were a lot healthier, I might add. Eli isn't top 5. He threw a lot of balls tonight that were ill advised, but he could do so because the pats secondary is so god awful.

Eli is inconsistent and lucky. People have short term memories, this is the same guy that in 08' was the #1 seed and got blown out of the playoffs, and the same guy who went 8-8 in 09 after starting 6-0.

excluding Peyton because of health reasons, I'd go:

    Brees/Rodgers/Brady
    Eli
    Ben

    Next year
    Brady
    Brees
    Rodgers
    Peyton (if healthy)
    Ben
    Eli

Also good job props to AJ Smith trading away Eli....

  9. Eli is not as consistently brilliant as a lot of other QBs game in and game out, but in the 4th quarter and at crunch time Eli's heart rate slows down. He is as cool and calm under pressure as any QB I have seen in any era. He believes he will get it done, so his teammates certainly believe he will as well.
