    Rookie Indoctrination - Harbaugh style

After a decade of open practices at 49er's training camp Harbaugh went back to the secrecy of the past and only opens the minimum required by the NFL PR flacks. So instead of play-by-play reports of activities on the field the local beat writers have to wait for the team to trot out a few players for interviews after practice. The beat writers then rush to post the exact same interview on a dozen or so local news sites.

It's mostly rookies right now so the variety is limited but there's one thing you can't miss. "Getting better every day" is the answer to 50% of the questions. In three rookie interviews today that phrase was repeated at least a dozen times.

Anyone who's watched a few Harbaugh pressers knows that "getting better everyday" is his usual answer to a question he doesn't want to answer. It looks like he's already got his rookies on message with the company line.

It's not just the rookies - a lot of vets do the same thing now too. I'm not sure I've ever seen a team buy into the coach the way the 49ers have bought into Harbaugh. Not even when Walsh was here.

Clearly you mean outside of New England. Does any team consistently buy into their coach like we do? Farrah and all her porn stars are in complete lockstep. We exude synchronicity, baby!

JH is kinda wily. I don't know that he has the genius of BB, but I'd keep an eye on him. Just don't expect anything except vanilla pressers.

That is so American football. Is there any other sport with the same degree of fascism?
