    OTA Lite: Packers

One of many problems with having back to back blowouts is that anything we had that was decent got on the air. Anything that we had that was terrible also got on the air. Only one good story we didn't get to. Cris was going to use it when the Packers were playing, but alas, they never were. This was from Randall Cobb:

The Packers receivers were having a discussion (which may sound familiar to FPers), if you were in a draft of every player who has ever played in the NFL, who would be your 1st overall pick? They brought this discussion to the team meeting. The first guy to chime in was Aaron Rodgers, "we all know who Mike (McCarthy) would take, Alex Smith".

So Rodgers is still resentful is what you're saying?

Perhaps. He certainly remembers and razzes McCarthy about it often enough that it gets mentioned.

I got the story 2nd hand so I can't say exactly what Rodgers tone was, but it was presented as an example of his sense of humor. If I had to guess I would say 80% humor, 20% lingering resent.

He might still be resentful, but it's still funny.

That's how Rodgers is always portrayed so it seems accurate. I can imagine the goofy smirk he probably had when he said that too. I wonder how much that lingering resentment motivates him?

Sounds like good old needling humor (assuming McCarthy was in the room.)
