    Sleepwalking in Jacksonville.

Two weeks to go, and we get the last road game of the regular season for us. In Jacksonville. It seems next year, if we had this game, Tebow would be starting. But, it's this year, and that means Chad Henne. We have no Gronk, no Spikes, no Dennard. This is one of the things that make football great. I'd have never imagined, in September, that Dennard would make the 'we won't have him' list. Ya never know who will step up over the course of the season, and Dennard has become more and more valuable as the year's progressed. I'd like us to put this game away by halftime and get two quarters of Mallet.

We have Kevin Harlan and Solomon Wilcots as the broadcast team. Tripplette is the ref. I'm guessing we'll see 5 PIs of which 3 will be scratch your head ones.

Jags D1: Start at the 22

    1st and 10: Henne to Blackmon, 18
    1st and 10: Owens, 3
    2nd and 7: Henne to Lewis, 4
    3rd and 3: Henne to Shorts, 10
    1st and 10: Owens, 14
    1st and 10: Henne to Owens, 12
    1st and 10: Henne to Lewis, 9
    2nd and 1: Murphy, 5
1st and goal: Henne to Blackmon, 3, TD. 7-0 Jags.

On the bad side, they carved us up. On the good side, Harlan is great at play by play. Every single play, he does the play by play. Wilcots gives decent analysis, and, even the truck does well. When the Jags went hurry up, the truck didn't go to replays, they kept us on the field. Every other broadcast team needs to watch these guys. They do it right.

Pats D1: Start at the 22. Slater is returning kickoffs with Devin starting at corner.

1st and 10: Brady to Lloyd, incomplete low. Somehow Tripplete's crew calls Cox of the Jags for PI. As you can tell, I think it's a horrible call.
    1st and 10: Ridley, 3
2nd and 7: Brady to Ridley, off Ridley's hands. Prosinski picks it. Not the best start.

Jags D2: Start at the 47

1st and 10: Henne to Shorts, 8. Offsides on Vince declined
    2nd and 2: Owens, 5
1st and 10: Henne to Blackmon, incomplete
    2nd and 10: Owens, 11
1st and 10: Henne to Shorts, high and incomplete
    2nd and 10: Murphy, -3
    3rd and 13: Henne to Lewis, 9
    4th and 4: 41 yard FG: good. 10-0 Jags.

Pats D2: Start at the 20.

1st and 10: Brady to Lloyd, high, incomplete
2nd and 10: Brady to #47! I can't spell his name, but he gets 32 yards!
    1st and 10: Ridley, 16
    1st and 10: Ridley, 7
    2nd and 3: Ridley, 9
    1st and goal: Ridley, 2
2nd and goal: Brady to Hernandez, incomplte. Aaron was held, but it was a good no call.
3rd and goal: Brady to Lloyd, incomlete
4th and goal: 25 yard FG: good. 10-3. We stalled in the redzone, which is un-Pats like. Brady might have hurt his hand.

Jags D3: Start at the 34.

    1st and 10: Murphy, 1
    2nd and 9: Henne to Shipley, 36
1st and 10: Henne to Blackmon, incomplete, McCourty defended it
    2nd and 10: Murphy, 4
3rd and 6: Henne to Lewis, incomplete
    4th and 6: 43 yard FG: Miss. Stays 10-3.

Pats D3: Start at the 33.

    1st and 10: Ridley, 0
    2nd and 10: Brady to Welker, 11
1st and 10: Brady to Lloyd, Cox picks it. Cox played great defense that play.

Jags D4: Start at the 26

1st and 10: Henne to Owens, 53 yards on a fake end around screen.

End of the first. We are playing like we're sleeping.

    1st and 10: Henne to Shorts, 9
2nd and 1: Murphy, 3. Negated by holding on Shorts
    2nd and 11: Henne to Lewis, 4
3rd and 7: Henne to Blackmon, incomplete
4th and 7: 35 yard FG: Good, barely. 13-3. It should be worse. We need to play better.

Pats D4: Start at the 20

    1st and 10: Bolden, 1
2nd and 9: Brady to someone, incomplete. I thought it was grounding.
3rd and 9: Brady to Welker, incomplete. Our oline was terrible this possession.
    4th and 9: Punt

Jags D5: Start at the 40

    1st and 10: Murphy, 8
    2nd and 2: Murphy, 0
3rd and 2: Henne to Shipley, high, incomplete
    4th and 2: Punt

Pats D5: Start at the 18

    1st and 10: Woodhead, 2
    2nd and 8: Bolden, 4
    3rd and 4: Brady to Hernandez, 14
    1st and 10: Brady to Branch, 6
    2nd and 4: Brady to Branch, 4.
1st and 10: Brady to Lloyd, pass defended by Cox.
2nd and 10: Brady screen to Woodhead, 24
    1st and 10: Woodhead, 4
    2nd and 6: Bolden, -2
3rd and 8: Brady to Hernandez, 14. Negated by Illegal Motion on Hernandez.
3rd and 13: Brady throws on the run, Poz drops a pick.
4th and 13: 49 yard FG just good. 13-6, Jags

Jags D6: Start at the 21. Greg Jones of the Jags hurt on the return.

1st and 10: Owens, 3. Negated by holding on Lewis
1st and 20: Henne to Shorts, dropped
    2nd and 20: Henne to Stanback, 6
3rd and 14: Henne to Shipley, incomplete. Shipley knocked it down to save a pick.
    4th and 14: Punt

Pats D6: Start at the 34

    1st and 10: Brady to Fells, 8
    2nd and 2: Woodhead, 2
3rd and inches: Direct snap to Ridley, 2
    1st and 10: Brady to Welker, 6
    2nd and 4: Brady to Welker, 8
1st and 10: Brady to Welker on a screen, 10
    1st and 10: Brady to Welker, 8
    2nd and 2: Brady to Lloyd, 8
1st and 10: Brady to Woodhead, incomplete
2nd and 10: Brady to Woodhead, 14, TD! Danny made an amazing catch and run! 13-13!

Jags D7: Start at the 32 after a squib kick.

1st and 10: Henne to Clemons, dropped
    2nd and 10: Henne to Blackmon, 9.
Jags take timeout with 5 seconds left in the half.
3rd and 1: Henne to Shipley, 19. Half ends

Given the fact we've been asleep, I'm happy to be tied at the half. Tripplette's crew and the CBS Booth both have A's at this point. We need to come out strong in the 3rd.

Jags are 2 of 7 on 3rd down. Pats are 3 of 5. Neither team has a 4th down attempt.

For a team with something to play for, I'm surprised by how close the Patriots are allowing this to be. Just this week I was telling myself that Belichick doesn't let his teams have letdowns.

Looks like they are gonna win, but just more proof that people were overhyping the Patriots.

    Second Half! Maybe we're awake!

Pats D7: Start at the 20

    1st and 10: Brady to Lloyd, 9
    2nd and 1: Ridley, 5
    1st and 10: Brady to Lloyd, 16
    1st and 10: Ridley, 1
    2nd and 9: Brady to Lloyd, 14
    1st and 10: Ridley, 12
    1st and 10: Ridley, 3
2nd and 7: Brady to Lloyd, high
3rd and 7: Brady to Woodhead, pass defended by Mincey.
4th and 7: 38 yard FG: good. 16-13. We have the lead.

Jags D8: Start at the 20

1st and 10: Henne to Shorts, incomplete
    2nd and 10: Henne to Shorts, 5
3rd and 5: Henne to Shorts, defended by Arrington, incomplete. Kyle is called for PI, which is a bad call. 2 PIs, one per team, both wrong.
    1st and 10: Owens, 5
    2nd and 5: Owens, -2
3rd and 7: Henne to Shorts, overthrown
    4th and 7: Punt

Pats D8: Start at the 8

    1st and 10: Ridley, 4
2nd and 6: Brady to Hernandez, incomplete
3rd and 6: Brady to Branch, incomplete. No flag, even though this was closer to PI than either PI they called.
    4th and 6: Punt

Side note: Solomon Wilcots has called Aaron Hernandez 'Tony Gonzalez' twice.

Jags D9: Start at the 39

    1st and 10: Murphy, 6
2nd and 4: Henne, 7, on a scramble after a broken play action
    1st and 10: Timeout Jags
    1st and 10: Owens, -2
2nd and 12: Henne picked by Cole!

Pats D9: Start at the 40

1st and 10: Brady sacked by Mincey, -4. Negated by personal foul for H2H. Bad call. There was h2h contact, because Tom ducked his head. I agree with Wilcots that the flag should have been picked up.
1st and 10: Brady sacked by Mosley, -7
    2nd and 17: Brady to Lloyd, 7
3rd and 10: Brady passed tipped and incomplete
4th and 10: Punt. Missed chance for us.

Jags D10: Start at the 10

    1st and 10: Owens, 1
    2nd and 9: Henne to Jones, 6
3rd and 3: Henne pass batted down by Deaderick, incomplete
    4th and 3: Punt

Pats D10: Start at the 41.

    1st and 10: Ridley, 4
2nd and 6: Welker, 9. End around run
    1st and 10: Ridley, 4
    2nd and 6: Brady to Welker, 25
1st and 10: Ridley, 7. He should have lost 3 yards, but makes a guy miss in the backfield.
    2nd and 3: Brady to Lloyd, 9
    1st and goal: Bolden, 1

End of the third. Not a pretty quarter, but we start it by getting the lead, and end it with a second and goal on the 1.

    2nd and goal: Bolden, -1
3rd and goal: Brady to Welker, 2, TD! Cox called for holding, penalty declined. 23-13 Pats!

Jags D11: Start at the 20

    1st and 10: Henne scrambles for 15
1st and 10: Murphy, 0. He had great effort to get back to the line
    2nd and 10: Henne to Shipley, 4
    3rd and 6: Henne to Blackmon, 18
    1st and 10: Murphy, 4
    2nd and 6: Henne to Shorts, 4
3rd and 2: Shovel pass to Owens, 2
    1st and 10: Owens, 6
    2nd and 4: Murphy, 1
3rd and 3: Henne to Murphy, incomplete. Hightower whacked him
4th and 3: 42 yard FG: good. 23-16. They took a lot of time to get 3 points.

Pats D11: Start at the 20

1st and 10: Brady to Lloyd, ruled incomplete. Looked like a catch to me. BB should have challenged.
    2nd and 10: Brady to Welker, 4
3rd and 6: Brady to Hernandez, incomplete. That failure to challenge on first down could come back to haunt us.
    4th and 6: Punt

Jags D12: Start at the 34.

    1st and 10: Henne to Blackmon, 9
    2nd and 1: Henne to Blackmon, 17
    1st and 10: Henne to Shipley, 5
2nd and 5: Henne to Shorts, 17. Broke a tackle by Devin
    1st and 10: Henne to Owens, 9
    2nd and 1: Murphy, 2
1st and goal: Henne to Murphy, 5
    2nd and goal: Jones, 0
3rd and goal: False Start, Potter
3rd and goal: Henne sacked by Hightower, -5
    4th and goal: Timeout Pats
4th and goal: Jones with pressure. Chung picks Henne and returns it to the 29! Wilfork flagged for personal foul after the play.

Pats D12: Start at the 14

1st and 10: Ridley, 1. Poz, of the Jags, hurt.
2nd and 9: Brady to Welker, 6. Poz is back this play. He was supposed to sit a play since play stopped for his injury. BB should be on the refs for that. That's a penalty.
    3rd and 3: Brady to #47, 15
    1st and 10: Ridley, 2
Two minute warning. It seems the Jags took a timeout when Poz was hurt, so he did not have to sit out
    2nd and 8: Ridley, 1, Jages timeout 3.
    3rd and 7: Brady sacked
    4th and 7: Punt

Jags D13: Start at the 38, 58 seconds left

1st and 10: Henne to Shorts, incomplete. 5 flags are thrown for Chungs hit on Shorts. Good call. Maybe. Shoulder hit to the head area while Shorts and Devin were fighting for the ball.
1st and 10: Henne to Shipley, high, incomplete
2nd and 10: Henne to Shipley, Chung defends the pass
3rd and 10: Henne to Shipley, incomplete. Jones with pressure
4th and 10: Henne to Clemons, 17. Henne was under pressure, threw it up and Clemons made a great catch. Catch was reviewed and upheld. 0:22 seconds left.
1st and 10: Spike. Why did they do that? The review, in effect let them run a play there.
    2nd and 10: Henne to Shipley, 18
    1st and 10: Spike, 8 seconds left
2nd and 10: Henne to Clemons, overthrown. 5 seconds left
3rd and 10: Henne intercepted by Chung! Game over!

Ugly game. But a win. Both teams were bad on 3rd and 4th. We were 5 of 12 on 3rd, they were 6 of 17 on 3rd and 4th.

As for the Pats being over-hyped. We are alive for the AFC one seed. If we beat Miami and the Texans lose to the Colts, in Indy, on the day when Chuck Pagane returns to the sidelines, we're the 2 seed. If that happens and Denver loses one of thier last two - today vs the Browns, and next week vs KC, we're the 1 seed. We've played 8 quarters, all season, with Gronk and Hernandez on the field. So, let's just see how overhyped we are when we actually get the real offense on the field for the first time in 4 months once January gets here.

Every playoff team has an ugly game or two.

Absolutely. Falcons completely overlooked Carolina, paid for it. It happens.

In light of the fact that the 49ers also played one of their worst games of the season on Sunday (albeit against a good team), perhaps we can assume that both teams were worn out from their epic battle in the rain from the previous week?

You have to think it was hard for the 49ers to get up for two huge games in a row, both on the road.
