“Football players play football. You tell me which guys are going to get hurt and I’ll get them out of there.” - Belichick on Gronk's injury.
He is intelligent, but not experienced. His pattern indicates two-dimensional thinking.
(Okay fine, I have no idea how good of a GM this guy will be. But the fact is, the Spock quote seems at least mildly appropriate here. Although, it's hard to do much worse than Tannenbaum's done the last few years).
Omar Khan has been a mastermind with the Steelers cap, and would be a huge loss to the organization. What is in question is his player evaluation skills. He seems like the type of guy that would have to surround himself with a group of good football people he could trust. But he's the unsung star in the Steelers' front office, and my gut says he'd be an excellent hire for anyone looking for a GM. I'd hate to see him leave.

The Jets have already made this mistake once, Tannenbaum was a cap specialist. They need a talent evaluator.
And apparently Tannenbaum was a GOOD cap specialist.
But someone needs to be the talent evaluator.
I don't know the answer to this, but is the problem that Tannenbaum started to think of himself as a good talent evaluator as well? As long as the cap specialist is willing to be honest with himself, and find the proper talent specialists he can trust, I think it could work.
But yes, hiring Khan would be a terrible idea for the Jets. He should probably just stay in Pittsburgh.![]()
