NFL says it was ready with backup power system

Roger commented that the League was ready with replacement power generators gathered mostly from DIII colleges. SEC Commissioner Mike Slive declined to comment when questioned by reporters why they hadn't allowed the NFL to use the SEC's generators as backups.

And there was no truth to the Twitter rumor that one of the generators, the pink one, was from the Lingerie League.

Luckily the REAL generators came back soon enough to finish the SuperBowl.

This is going to be interesting to see who fouled up here. The power company denies responsibility.

I'm convinced that it was either a 49er fan or someone from the NFL who was trying to find a way to jump start the 49ers.

It was a the customer's site (SuperDome). There are power monitoring devicesin the SuperDome. They detected an anomaly in power consumption. The system then began a systematic power reboot to figure out the problem. Unfortunately, as soon as you interrupt the power to those lights, it takes about 20 minutes to power them up again. Oopsie.

I have also heard that Beyonce kicked the breakers several times during the week of practicing.

I think perhaps the delay was about more than just the lights restarting. How long did it take to restore power to the Ravens' sideline communications and to the CBS booth? Was it about 20-25 mins before we returned to Jim Nance?

It was a long time to get the audio from the booth. Got no idea why. Also the QB radios took a long time to get back up.

More news, it wasn't Beyonce. She brought her own generators.
