It's being reported that Mangold signed a 7-year, $55M deal. In my opinion, the Jets have done this the right way. They had 2 guys looking for contracts, one went to camp, one held out. They signed the guy that showed up. In the short term, of course, it would have made a lot more sense to sign Revis first, then you would have both guys. But in the long term that would have sent the message that the way to get a new contract is to not show up. Maybe it's just coincidence. Maybe they spent the same amount of time negotiating with both guys and the Mangold deal just worked itself out first. Either way, I think they are better off.
