DRAFT THREAD: Best Voices In Sports

This is the official selection thread for the Best Voices In Sports Draft. The discussion thread can be found here...

The draft is 9 rounds, serpentine, with a 3rd round reversal to even things out (last pick in round 1 gets 1st pick in both round 2 and 3-- 1-8, 8-1, 8-1, 1-8, 8-1, etc). Categories are as follows...

    -Best PBP- Current
-Best PBP- Historical (can also be a current voice)
    -Best Analyst- Current
    -Best Analyst- Historical
    -Best Moment
-Worst In-Booth- (Least favorite/most annoying PBP or Analyst.)
-Best in Print/Narration (can be a sportswriter or a narrator)
-Best On Field (players/coaches wired for sound- current or historical)
-Best in Studio (can be host or analyst)
-Wild Card (can be best, worst, personal favorite in any field- entirely your call)

At Least One of these picks Must Be A Homer Selection. This does not have to be a homer announcer for a team that you follow. Bonus points are awarded for excessive homerism. Hypothetical points will be deducted if you take a home team announcer known for simply calling the game down the middle. Also, The On Field Category May NOT Be Used To Fill Your "Homer" Qualification.

    -Sound clips are a must.

-Strict Time Limits will be followed. You will have 24 hours to make a pick, but will only retain no more than 4 hours of pick exclusivity (Note the change from 6 hours in previous drafts to 4 in this one). Time will freeze from MIDNIGHT EDT thru 8 AM EDT. Picks can be made during those hours, but time will otherwise stand still. In other words, if you go on the clock at 9 PM EDT, you will technically be on the clock exclusively until 9 AM the following morning.

This is not as easy as everyone may think. There are some great moments, and some truly standout announcers.

But yes. For the first pick in the Best Voices In Sports Draft, I'll take John Facenda, Narrator, NFL Films

I mean... Jesus, this is tough. There are, at this point, two acceptable choices. The one I'm passing on, objectively, is probably the stronger choice, but I love this voice still is autumn to me, almost a decade after his retirement:

Keith Jackson, Best PBP (Historical), College Football on ABC

ScottDCP starts his draft with Vin Scully, Best PBP (Historical), Brooklyn/LA Dodgers, NBC MLB Game of the Week, etc.

Biggie is officially on the clock.

I'll select Howard Cosell, I would guess as an analyst, historical.
