    Week 3: Jacksonville.

The Jags at home. We don't play them often and BB and company have been guarding against overlooking a team. The win over Miami last week probably helped with that. This is a game, even with that said, that we should win.

In it's way, it's a big game. We have the terrible week 4 bye, then are @Dallas, @Indy, home for Revis and the Jets. That's a huge 3 game section, and so 3-0 going into the bye would be very nice.

It's 64 and sunny in Foxboro and is supposed to get into the 70s with no chance of rain. Weather will not be a factor.

Walt Coleman's crew has the game, and we have Kevin Harlan and Rich Gannon for the second week in a row as the broadcast team.

Notable inactives and/or injured players are Ryan Wendell, Hooman, and Bradley Fletcher for us, and Andre Branch, Julius Thomas, Johnathon Cyprien, Denard Robinson, and Luke Joekel for them. I find the Fletcher inactivation interesting. I wish we still had Browner, and with the train wreck in New Orleans, I wonder if he wishes he were still in Foxboro.

Will Brady keep playing lights out? Will the mostly rookie Oline keep playing great? Will Harmon get a pick for the 3rd game in a row? Does Andrew Luck wish he played for a GM who wanted to keep him off the ground? Three of these questions will be answered this afternoon!

    Go Pats!

Jags P1: Start at the 16. Three and out.

Pats P1: Start at the 36. Great drive. We start with 4 passes. Lewis for 3, then 3 for Gronk. He had two catches for 53 yards. That gave us first and goal. Gronk ran the wrong route on first and the pass was incomplete. After a timeout, Lewis runs it in for an 8 yard TD. 7-0 Pats, 11:55 left in the first.

Jags P2: Start at the 20. A decent, if fruitless, drive for Jacksonville. They start off with a 3 yard Yeldon run and a 7 yard pass to Robinson. After Yeldon gets nothing, and pressure from Nink forces an incomplete pass to Lee, Bortles finds Harper for 26 on 3rd and 10. Yeldon runs for 5, but it comes back when Linder is called for holding. Yeldon get the ball again for 8. Bortles misses Lewis. On 3rd and 12 a bad snap leads to a sack by Collins and Sheard. They punt.

Pats P2: Start at the 10. We keep moving. We start in the air with passes to Jules (16) and Lewis (5). Lewis gets a 3 yard run, then Jules has back to back catches for 25. Lewis gets another carry and gets 10. Brady throws the ball away on 1st and 10 under pressure from Jones. On second down, he finds Dola for 12, but that gets wiped away by OPI on Gronk. After a 3 yard Lewis run, and an 11 yard pass to Dola, we settle for a 46 yard FG. 10-0 Pats. 2:56 left in the first.

Jags P3: Start at the 20. They start on the ground. Pierce gets 1, and Bortles gets 2 on a designed run. On 3rd and 7, Bortles overthrows Hearns by about 15 yards. But, Logan Ryan is called for illegal contact and bails the Jags out. The quarter ends with 2 Yeldon runs for 9 and a half yards and a 3 yard, 3rd and inches, Bortles sneak.

They start the second quarter with back to back fake end arounds to Lee. On the first, they get 8 to Grant off a screen. On the second, they throw the screen to Lee, himself, and get 13. Yeldon gets nothing, and Bortles misses Robinson before finding Hearns for 12 on 3rd and 10. Gerhardt gets 3. On 2nd and 7, Malcolm Butler drops a pick. It might have been a 90 yard TD return. On 3rd and 7, Bortles is ruled to have fumbled and it's recovered 8 yards downfield by Gerhardt for the first down. BB challenges, but the call stands. We're down to one timeout. I think it's the wrong call. However, it was very close, and Coleman might well be correct.

Lee is out with a hamstring injury.

After the review, Bortles goes to Grant in the endzone, but Grant drops the pass. Yeldon gets nothing. On 3rd and 10, they find Lewis, and he gets 15. However, it comes back on illegal formation. Bortles goes to incomplete to Hearns. We decline holding on Linder, and they get a 40 yard FG. 10-3 Pats, 9:32 left. This was a 17 play drive that used up over 8 minutes and they get three.

Pats P3: Start at the 20. We waste a chance. After we start with a Brady throw away, TB12 finds ex-Texan Martin for 13. Blunt runs for 3, Brady finds Lewis for 6, then Brady picks up 2 on 3rd and 1. Under pressure, Brady throws to Blount who gets 13, and Blount runs for 22 on the next play. Brady goes to Jules for 4, Lewis runs for 2, then Tom finds Dola for 8. We had first and goal on the 6. Lewis runs for 4 on first down. However passes to Jules and Gronk are defended by Brown and House. We settle for a 20 yard FG, and the 13-3 lead with 3:42 left.

Jags P4: Start at the 22. They start off strong. Bortles finds Walters for 23. Yeldon runs for 5, and Bortles finds Walters for 5 and a first down at the warning.

    And then...

    Interception! Devon McCourty!

Pats P4: Start at the 43. We lead off with Lewis. He sandwiches a 6 yard run between catches of 8 and 9. Brady misses Jules low, and then picks up a 3rd and 1 with a 2 yard sneak. Brady finds Gronk down the seam for 26, and 4 more get added off a very iffy blow to TB12s head call on Skuda. That gaves us first and goal at the 3. Lewis runs for 2, and we take our last timeout. Then, off playaction, Brady finds Dola for TD 400! 20-3 Pats! 0:18 left.

Jags P5: Start at the 20. They end the half with a 3 yard loss on a screen to Pierce.

At the half, the answers to my questions are: yes, yes, and not yet.

Evans, a Jags DB, is out for the game.

Pats P5: Start at the 20. We squander again. We start out in the air with completions to Martin (7), Jules (16), and Gronk (21). Sergio Brown was pulled after the Edelman catch. Jones bats a Brady pass down. Brady responds with a 9 yard pass to Jules. On the 3rd and 1, they are expecting a sneak, and we run an end around for Blount that gets 9. However, we fall apart. Odrick drops Blount for a loss of 3. Sample knocks down a pass intended for Gronk and House went down on the play after colliding with Gronk. Then Brady gets sacked by Davis. We settle for the FG. 23-3. 10:50 left in the third.

Jags P6: Start at the 20. Three and out. They also get a delay of game on 4th down.

Pats P6: Start at the 33. Crazy Drive. Play 1: Brady finds James White for 7. Comes back on OPI on Gronk. Play 2: Brady goes deep to Dobson, incomplete. DPI on Thompson, 52 yard gain. Play 3: Brady picked in the endzone by House. House returns it 70 yards. Comes back. DPI on House. 24 yard gain. Play 4: Blount, 1 yard TD. 30-3 Pats. 9:04 left in the third.

Officially, it's a 1 play, 67 yard drive that ends with a 1 yard TD.

Jags P7: Start at the 20. Jags strike. Bortles finds Robinson for 4, Grant runs for 3, then Bortles finds Yeldon for 10, then misses Pierce. Yeldon gets 3. On 3rd and 7, they burn timeout 1 to not get a delay. Then, Bortles goes deep to Hearns. Hearns beats Harmon and goes 59 yards for the score. 30-10, Pats. 6:15 left in the third.

Pats P7: Start at the 20. We answer. The first three plays are passes. White for 11, then Jules for 4, and 11. We then hand the ball to Blount 3 times for 27 yards and 15 more on a horsecollar tackle. We finish the drive with a 13 yard TD pass to Martin. 37-10 Pats. 3:18 left in the 3rd.

Jags P8: Start at the 20. Three and out. And then...

They go for the fake punt! Matthew Slater stops it!

Pats P8: Start at the Jags 24. We run 4 plays before the quarter ends. Blount runs for 1. Brady finds Dobson for 5, and Chandler for 17. That gave us first and goal at the 1. Blount gets stopped for no gain to end the third.

To start the 4th, Blount punches it in. 44-10. 14:57 left.

Jags P9: Start at the 20. Three and out.

Pats P9: Start at the 42. We have a nice long drive. It starts with three passes. Two for White (-2, 8) then one for Dola (7). We go to the ground. 3 touches for Blount for a total of 11, then White gets 3. Brady goes back to White with a pass for 9.

On the ensuing 1st and 10, Miller sacks Brady for the second time. But White gets the sack yardage back and Dola gets 12 on a 3rd and 10 pass. Blount runs for 2. Brady goes to Dobson but the pass goes incomplete. On 3rd and 8, Brady finds Chandler for the first down. It's also first and goal on the one. We get called for false start. It's actually a benefit, as it takes Blount 3 carries to get those 6 yards and the TD. 51-10 Pats. 3:31 left.

Jags P10: Start at the 20. Naturally, they come out thowing. After a batted down pass, they get 3 completions. Robinson (37), Pierce (6), and Robinson (20). That got us to the two minute warning.

After the warning, they go to Harper three times. They get 2 catches, 17 yards, and the TD. 51-17 Pats. 1:22 left.

Pats P10: Start at the 20. Jimmy comes in to run the Victory Formation.

We were 9 for 9 on real possessions. We never punted today.

3-0 going into the bye. Couldn't ask for anything more.
