Why I think Doug Whaley needs to be replaced:
In addition to some of the inane things he says:
2015 - BUFFALO BILLS
RD SEL # PLAYER POSITION SCHOOL
2 50 Ronald Darby CB Florida State OK
3 81 John Miller G Louisville They like him, I don't
5 155 Karlos Williams RB Florida State OK
6 188 Tony Steward LB Clemson Gonezo
6 194 Nick O'Leary TE Florida State Not gonna be around much longer - already cut once
7 234 Dezmin Lewis WR Central Arkansas Cut once or twice last year, likely to not be around much this year
2014 - BUFFALO BILLS
RD SEL # PLAYER POSITION SCHOOL
1 4 Sammy Watkins WR Clemson I don't wish to repeat myself regarding the trade
2 44 Cyrus Kouandjio T Alabama Stiff. Won't last the year
3 73 Preston Brown ILB Louisville Half good - liability in coverage and communication
4 109 Ross Cockrell CB Duke Doing OK in Pittsburgh
5 153 Cyril Richardson G Baylor If he is still on the roster, it won't be for very much longer. Had a couple chances and stunk up the joint
7 221 Randell Johnson LB Florida Atlantic OK on kicking teams when healthy
7 237 Seantrel Henderson T Miami (Fla.) OK, but they are constantly looking to replace him
2013 - BUFFALO BILLS
RD SEL # PLAYER POSITION SCHOOL
1 16 EJ Manuel QB Florida State *****, please.
2 41 Robert Woods WR USC Actually good, but they are trying to replace him
2 46 Kiko Alonso MLB Oregon Possibly their best pick in WHaley tenure. Gave him away after injury lost a year. He will be outstanding this year.
3 78 Marquise Goodwin WR Texas Serially misused into constant injury, likely gone
4 105 Duke Williams FS Nevada Awful
5 143 Jonathan Meeks DB Clemson Worse
6 177 Dustin Hopkins K Florida State Gone
7 222 Chris Gragg TE Arkansas Gone

Summary: 21 draft picks in the three drafts before this year, at most 6 starters. One first round thrownot away, another given away, the third reliant on another player for any success. A second rounder who plays well. Another who never plays, another who was given away. 3 average at best third rounders.

To say nothing of the unnecessary raises.

Whaley claims that in order to be a successful draft you need a starter in rounds 1-3 with the first rounders being impactful difference makers. He hits about 50%. In the later rounds he has gotten two decent players and a few end of the roster guys who have not lasted long. Not Hall Of Fame stuff.
