Predicting the opening day roster before training camp opens, 2016

Everyone else is asleep. Let's see if I can finish this:

Bold makes roster, italics to practice squad.

    # NAME POS. HT. WT. AGE EXP. COLLEGE
    67 Kugler, Robert C 6-3 300 23 R Purdue Dad used to coach here.
    61 Velasco, Fernando C 6 310 31 6 Georgia
    70 Wood, Eric C 6-4 310 30 8 Louisville Starting again.
39 Butler, Mario CB 6-1 187 27 2 Georgia Tech Has done OK when asked to play. Last guy kept/cut. Depends on Safety numbers.
28 Darby, Ronald CB 5-11 193 22 2 Florida State Starts on the left side.
24 Gilmore, Stephon CB 6-1 190 25 5 South Carolina Starts on the right side until his October injury.
    41 Moore, Sterling CB 5-10 202 26 6 Southern Methodist
37 Robey, Nickell CB 5-8 165 24 4 Southern California They want to replace him with someone bigger (Sterling Moore) now that they have signed him to a decent extension. Still better.
    44 Seamster, Sammy CB 6-0 205 25 2 Middle Tennessee State
45 Seymour, Kevon CB 5-11 186 22 R Southern California Not generally a fan of drafting guys with bad knees, but he does appear to have talent and the coaches won't sut up about how much they like him. Makes it.
    30 White, Corey CB 6-1 210 26 5 Samford
    21 Arenas, Javier DB 5-9 197 28 6 Alabama Primary punt returner
74 Douzable, Leger DE 6 284 30 9 Central Florida Getting a bit old (expensive) to be a backup.
93 Edwards, Lavar DE 6-4 275 26 3 LSU Never heard of him
    55 Hughes, Jerry DE 6-2 254 27 7 Texas Christian
90 Lawson, Shaq DE 6-3 270 22 R Clemson IR the whole year? Probably should be.
    56 Reed, Cedric DE 6-5 269 23 R Texas
    54 Valles, Max DE 6-4 250 21 1 Virginia
98 Barnes, T.J. DT 6-7 364 26 3 Georgia Tech They have already tried to make him an OT. He is just really big.
97 Bryant, Corbin DT 6-4 300 28 4 Northwestern Coming off late season injury. Young enough to rebound.
    99 Dareus, Marcell DT 6-3 331 26 6 Alabama
92 Washington, Adolphus DT 6-3 297 22 R Ohio State Biggest mistake of the draft. GM wants to start him. Coaches have tried. If they ever do get him on the field you will know where to expect the ballcarrier to be pointing.
    95 Williams, Kyle DT 6-1 303 33 11 LSU
    94 Worthy, Jerel DT 6-2 308 26 3 Michigan State
    63 Zimmer, Justin DT 6-3 292 23 R Ferris State
42 Felton, Jerome FB 6-0 248 30 9 Furman Too expensive for someone playing 9% of the offensive snaps. Look for H-Back instead.
    48 Gronkowski, Glenn FB 6-3 234 23 R Kansas State
72 Groy, Ryan G 6-5 320 25 3 Wisconsin Gotta keep one or two on the practice squad. Guessing.
    64 Incognito, Richie G 6-3 319 33 10 Nebraska
    60 Lalk, Jamison G 6-6 304 23 R Iowa State
76 Miller, John G 6-2 303 22 2 Louisville You ARE the weakest Link. Hello again.
68 Richardson, Cyril G 6-5 343 25 2 Baylor He got chances last year. He stunk.
53 Brown, Zach ILB 6-1 248 26 5 North Carolina Better than Ragland will ever be.
2 Carpenter, Dan K 6-2 228 30 9 Montana Team with mobile QB and multiple red zone weapons that is afraid of 2 point conversions will drop their otherwise excellent kicker because he misses 1 point conversions. Dumb.
4 Gay, Jordan K 6-1 200 26 3 Centre College They're keeping the rookie who will be less accurate than Carpenter.
    9 Morgan, Marshall K 6-3 194 22 R Georgia
49 Albright, Bryson LB 6-5 225 22 R Miami (OH) Tall and skinny.
57 Alexander, Lorenzo LB 6-1 245 33 10 California Old, will be supplanted by Eric Striker.
    52 Brown, Preston LB 6-1 251 23 3 Louisville
    75 Enemkpali, IK LB 6-1 261 25 3 Louisiana Tech Doesn't actually produce much.
    58 Johnson, Randell LB 6-4 245 25 3 Florida Atlantic
    96 Lattimore, Jamari LB 6-2 229 27 6 Middle Tennessee State
91 Lawson, Manny LB 6-5 240 32 10 North Carolina State Still their best LB. Won't start much.
59 Ragland, Reggie LB 6-1 247 22 R Alabama Will start. Will be a liability.
    51 Reddick, Kevin LB 6-1 240 26 3 North Carolina
50 Striker, Eric LB 6-0 221 22 R Oklahoma Should start, but I think the coaches are idiots.
69 Ferguson, Reid LS 6-2 244 22 R LSU Only if he is as good as Sanborn, who is getting expensive. Unlikely.
    65 Sanborn, Garrison LS 6-1 240 30 8 Florida State
    6 Schmidt, Colton P 5-11 224 25 3 California-Davis DOing well as punter. Not great as holder.
7 Jones, Cardale QB 6-5 250 23 R Ohio State If he isn't placed on IR it will be a grave injustice and sign of roster mismanagement. Kid can't play, probably never will, and if needed, will waste everybody else's season.
3 Manuel, EJ QB 6-4 237 26 4 Florida State Way better than Cardale JOnes.
5 Taylor, Tyrod QB 6-1 215 26 6 Virginia Tech Best I have felt about the position since Fitz.
    35 Gillislee, Mike RB 5-11 219 25 3 Florida
    47 Herron, Boom RB 5-10 213 27 3 Ohio State
25 McCoy, LeSean RB 5-11 208 28 8 Pittsburgh Starts until his October injury.
38 Wilder, Jr., James RB 6-3 232 24 1 Florida State Man his dad was good.
40 Williams, Jonathan RB 6-0 223 22 R Arkansas Will remind people of Johnny White.
29 Williams, Karlos RB 6-1 230 23 2 Florida State Hope he doesn't burn himself out of the league. Ahem.
    33 Anderson, Colt S 5-10 195 30 7 Montana
    26 Blanton, Robert S 6-1 200 26 5 Notre Dame
    31 Dowling, Jonathan S 6-3 190 24 2 Western Kentucky
    20 Graham, Corey S 6-0 196 30 10 New Hampshire
    36 Meeks, Jonathan S 6-0 209 26 3 Clemson
23 Williams, Aaron S 6-0 199 26 6 Texas Given what happened to his neck I hope he retires. I don't want to see him die.
    27 Williams, Duke S 5-11 201 25 4 Nevada
    77 Glenn, Cordy T 6-6 345 26 5 Georgia
    66 Henderson, Seantrel T 6-7 331 24 3 Miami (FL)
71 Kouandjio, Cyrus T 6-7 322 23 2 Alabama As soon as Henderson can stand up for ten minutes he is gone.
    73 Lucas, Marquis T 6-4 318 23 R West Virginia
    62 Martin, Chris T 6-5 305 26 1 Central Florida
    79 Mills, Jordan T 6-5 316 25 4 Louisiana Tech
    75 Renfrow, Justin T 6 310 26 1 Miami (Fla.)

    85 Clay, Charles TE 6-3 255 27 6 Tulsa
    82 Dray, Jim TE 6-5 255 29 7 Stanford

    89 Gragg, Chris TE 6-3 244 26 4 Arkansas
    84 O'Leary, Nick TE 6-3 252 23 1 Florida State
    16 Allen, Davonte WR 6-2 201 23 R Marshall
17 Boykin, Jarrett WR 6-2 215 26 4 Virginia Tech He and Little are interchangeable. Green Bay pedigree beats Cleveland pedigree.
    87 Chambers, Gary WR 6-4 215 23 R Arizona State
    81 Easley, Marcus WR 6-2 217 28 5 UConn
88 Goodwin, Marquise WR 5-9 179 25 3 Texas Easley and Goodwin are both victims of their injury histories.
    80 Hankerson, Leonard WR 6-2 211 27 6 Miami (Fla.)
    13 Lewis, Dezmin WR 6-4 214 23 1 Central Arkansas
They won't stop praising his OTA performances. Yay.
18 Listenbee, Kolby WR 6-1 183 22 R Texas Christian Primary kickoff returner.
    15 Little, Greg WR 6-2 220 27 5 North Carolina
    19 Powell, Walter WR 6-0 189 24 2 Murray State

    11 Salas, Greg WR 6-2 210 27 5 Hawaii

14 Watkins, Sammy WR 6-1 211 23 3 Clemson Starts until injuries take him out in November.
    10 Woods, Robert WR 6-0 190 24 4 Southern California

    Plus:
    RESERVE/DID NOT REPORT

    # NAME POS. HT. WT. AGE EXP. COLLEGE
Archer, Dri RB 5-8 173 24 3 Kent State Apparently not interested.

They will bring in an as yet not on the roster defensive and offensive lineman.

Coaches still suck, GM still ties their hands. Still gonna be 8-8.

I will probably talk about these elsewhere later, but Stephon Gilmore is in the last year of his rookie contract and Tyrod Taylor is in position to be paid like they mean it should he do well this year.

    In reverse order:

    1. Tyrod Taylor will improve this year and play consistently well. Next year he will be offered something in the high teens of millions per year.

    2. This will be Gilmore's last year in Buffalo. He has already indicated that he will play out the season under his old deal, and given the poor planning on the part of the GM and his staff, there isn't going to be enough money under the cap to pay each of these guys combined market value. They will go with the QB, and I have no problem with that. Someone else is going to offer Gilmore 13M per year next year.

Got one wrong already. Morgan got released so Dan Carpenter is the kicker once again.

Two if you count Reggie Bush's surgically repaired 10 year veteran knee.

    1. I expected the Bush Reggie to suffer a serious knee injury first, although given absolutely every other player Buffalo drafted this year having some kind of recent or lingering large joint injury it seems obvious that the Ragland Reggie would get one as well.

    2. Buffalo has apparently signed Brandon Spikes to fill 8n. I may have heard something somewhere about Spikes and Ragland having similar skillsets.

Also, the Bush Reggie signing has led to the release of Javier Arenas.

Plus they signed David Hawthorne, which would have been awesome four or five years ago. No idea about today.

They also signed a tight end whose name escapes me, but is something like Jiminy Mondays. I expect him to not make the opening day roster.

THey have already released some guys. Definitely Gary Chamber,s maybe Davonte Allen.

    Waived-injured Kevin Reddick.

Aaron Williams got a concussion yesterday, after a head to head collision with a receiver as both were running to the ball. I was thrilled when he excelled as a Safety, but last year's neck injury has me scared for him. I kinda wish he would think about hanging it up. It would suck majorly for the team's prospects, but I just don't want to see him die on TV.

So IK Enahoohahooa has lost his knee. Buffalo replaced him with Kroy Biermann. Here's hoping he has a little left in the tank, as it were.

Bills cut Hankerson and Barnes, signed Brando Deaderick, about whom I know little, and Alameda Ta'amu, whom I wanted Buffalo to draft in Round 2 a couple years back.
