Week 3. Houston.

Week Three.

Home for Houston in the Color Rush uniforms. Jacoby Brissett becomes the first African American to ever start a game at quarterback for the Pats. His backup is Julian Edelman. Jimmy might be back for the Bills a week from Sunday and he also might not be. Gronk is expected to play.

Weather will be in the 50s, high humidity, minimal change of rain.

Significant inactives for us are Jimmy, Johnathon Cooper, and Donta Hightower.

Significant inactives for them are Duane Brown, Brian Cushing, and Brandon Weeden.

If we can pull this off, if we can win, 3-0 would be awesome!

First Quarter.

Wow, our color rush uni's are lame. Houston is wearing normal away game whites. I really hate this color rush concept that started last year.

Houston gets the ball first. They start at the 25. 6 plays and a punt. They convert a 3rd down with a sweet play by Hopkins, but we ended the drive on a 3rd and 8 sack by Sheard.

We start at the 31, after a fair catch inteference call against James of the Texans. Three and out. Hogan's arm was held on a long third down pass. No call, but the official might not have been able to see it. You could see it on reverse angle on camera, but it was shieled from the sideline view.

Houston starts at the 11. 7 plays and a punt. They get two first downs and use one timeout.

We start at the 20. We move the ball nicely with a nice drive. We start slow, pick up a first down with a PI call on Joseph on 3rd and 5. Jacoby option runs for 13 on the next play and on the next 3rd down, he finds Mitchell for 26. Overall, it's a 10 play drive that ends with a FG after a bad throw to Gronk on 3rd and 1 from the 6. I think we should have run for the first and goal. We're up 3-0 with 2:07.

Jospeh was hurt on the drive.

Houston fumbles the kickoff at the 17, we recover at the Houston 22. We had to challenge to get the ball. I thought he was down before it came out, but on replay it was clear that it came out before he was down. Bolden forced it, Harmon recovers. James is the man who fumbled. He has two bad special teams plays. After a Cannon false start, Jacoby runs for a 27 yard TD!

10-0 Pats! 1:54 left. 10 points in 13 seconds.

The quarter ends with Houston facing a 3rd and 5.

We're looking good. It's been a good start, and I hope we can keep it up. We definately won the 1st Quarter. However, Hopkins is pretty amazing. He has two great third down catches.

Second Quarter:

Houston starts at the 25. 8 plays. They get two first downs but it ends with a pick by Jamie Collins!

We start at the Houston 43. Three and out. We waste a chance. McKinney sacks Jacoby on 3rd and 7.

Houston starts at the 10. 7 plays and a punt. They had some good plays but stall out again.

We were going start at the 25 after Mingo recovers a fumble on the return by our Jones. However, they challenge and win it, pointing out Jones was down at the 18. So there was no fumble, and we start at the 18. Both teams have won one challenge. We end up going for six plays and a punt.

Houston starts at the 10. 7 plays and a punt. They have not moved past the 50 in the half.

We start at the 14. We run three times, kneel twice, and go to the half with the lead.

The second quarter is a tie. That's not a bad thing. As long as we match them for the rest of the game we win.

We get the ball to start the second half.

On the 3rd and 1 at the 6, I think a veteran QB makes a back shoulder throw. The CB was replacing Joseph the first play after his injury and as soon as Gronk split out to be covered by him I thought they would never go anywhere else. The new kid CB played it solid, making sure Gronk didn't get behind him and didn't just stop in the flat, but the back shoulder throw looked like it was there.

Third Quarter:

Joseph is back for the Texans.

We start at the 22. It's a good drive but not a perfect one. We start with a 23 yard catch by Jules. Then we have 7 runs in a row before the drive stalls. Even after we stall, we run four more plays and get a 25 yard FG. 13-0 Pats. 8:19 left.

Houston fumbles the kickoff!! We recover at the 21. Ebner forced the ball out!

The drive was crazy! We start with a pass to Jules for 5, then Blount runs for 10. That gave us a first and goal at the 6. Blount loses a yard, then Jacoby goes to Bennett. It's incomplete, but DPI is called on Demps. Blount loses a yard, and then Jacoby goes to Bennett twice. The first try is defended by Joseph, the second misses, but DPI is called on Boyer. Blount finishes the drive on the next play with the 1 yard TD.

20-0 Pats 5:41 left.

Houston used a timeout on the drive.

Houston starts at the 23 after Irvin again fumbles the kickoff. However, it's as he catches it, so he can pick it up and get a return. Bad drive for them. Hopkins with a 15 yard catch, Fuller with a drop, two bad passes and a punt.

We start at the 16. Jones fumbled on the return but he recovered it. Three and out. On 2nd and 6, Jacoby went deep to Hogan and missed him by a yard inside the Houston 40. So close to a huge huge play.

It's the second time he just missed Hogan for a 40+ yard play. Timing is just a little off which has to be expected given the short week and a third string QB.

They start at the 19. They finish the half with rhythm. Brock goes 5 for 5, and they ran twice. The fouth with start with Houston having a 3rd and 5 around our 33.

Houston snapped the ball for the first time across the 50 with 1:15 left in the third

We won this quarter big time. It's not over yet, but we are in good shape!

Fourth Quarter:

Brock throws to Grimes for no gain on 3rd and 4. After a timeout, he goes to Fuller. Butler knocks it down and they turn it over on downs with 14:12 left.

We start at the 36. Three and out. We punt with 13:33 left.

Houston starts at the 14. You have to assume that down 20 with 1 timeout left, it's four down time. However, they have a bad drive. On first down, Flowers and Sheard sack Brock for a loss of 10. They give Miller a draw for 6. After the play, Strong shoves both his hands into Jones' facemask and is flagged. 3rd and 20 brings another draw and they punt with 11:40 left.

We start at the Houston 47. Two plays! Blount for 6, and then Blount again for a 41 yard TD! 27-0 Pats! 11:00 left.

After the touchdown, Blount posed for a picture with the Minutemen. Very cool, though it could have been flagged I suppose.

Houston starts at the 25. 7 plays and a turnover on downs with 8:19 left.

At this point, Hopkins was 3 of 3 for 40 in the first half, and 0 for 3 in the second half.

We start at the 47. Three and out. We punt with 6:52 left. Houston uses it's last timeout.

Houston starts at the 5. 11 plays and a turnover on downs with 3:11 left.

Hopkins had one target, but it was a bad pass and fell incomplete.

We start at the Houston 44. Three and out. We punt with 1:15 left.

Houston starts at the 4. They run Blue twice to end the game.

Ryan pinned the Texans inside the 16 six times tonight. Great job with the punts.

3-0. Key tiebreaker for down the road. Great win!

There's a really good chance that we'll be 4-0 when Nink and TB12 get back!
