What they are saying about the Bengals today

    Lance McAlister
The Bengals offense disappeared once again for most of the second half, 3rd down penalties killed the defense, Vontaze Burfict became the second
Bengal ejected in as many weeks......and then the defense could not hold a late lead. Add it up and it spelled a 24-20 loss at Tennessee on Sunday.

    Geoff Hobson, Bengals.com:
This one cut them deep because Sunday’s final-minute 24-20 loss to the Titans was one the Bengals really should have had.

    Paul Dehner Jr., Enquirer:
The scene of Sunday’s 24-20 loss against Tennessee in Nissan Stadium seemed to be playing out as so many had this year. Even with a late
touchdown pass to A.J. Green setting up to potentially save the day, the Bengals again ended up one play away from changing the direction of their season.

    Jim Owczarski, Enquirer:
Burfict has now been flagged six times this season, with five being accepted. The league also fined him $12,100 for unsportsmanlike
conduct following a review of a play against Pittsburgh where he kicked at the facemask of Steelers fullback Roosevelt Nix. Burfict began the season on the
suspended list, missing the first three games due to an accumulation of safety-related violations following a hit in the preseason.

    Jay Morrison, Dayton Daily News:
In the aftermath of last week’s 23-7 loss at Jacksonville, Bengals wide receiver A.J. Green stood in front of his teammates and apologized for getting ejected before standing in front of reporters and continuing to apologize while answering every question. Sunday in the visitors locker room at Nissan Stadium, Burfict refused to talk to the media after getting ejected from a 24-20 loss to the Tennessee Titans. When asked if Burfict apologized to the team,
    two veteran leaders.......

    Richard Skinner, Local12.com:
Lazor's offense has really struggled in the second half of recent games. In the three games prior to this one the Bengals gained just 196 yards combined in the second half, and that included a 72-yard touchdown drive on the first series of the second half against Indianapolis. On the first five possessions of the second half against Tennessee the Bengals had only 39 yards and two first downs.

    John Breech, CBSSports.com:
Grade C... If you tune in to the second half of a Bengals game, you're almost guaranteed to see a puntfest. Since the fourth quarter of Week 8, the Bengals have had 16 second-half possessions, and 15 of them have either ended with a punt (12) or a turnover on downs (3).

    Andie Hagemann, NFL.com:
The Cincinnati Bengals defense lost two key players early. Vontaze Burfictwas ejected during the second quarter after making contact with an official. The penalty came two plays after Burfict was flagged for unnecessary roughness following a short run by Murray. Bengals cornerback Adam Jones also exited the game after sustaining a concussion. A battered defense losing two of its stars early couldn't stave of the "exotic smashmouth" Titans' offense.

    Gary Gramling, SI.com:
No doubt, this was weak. And no doubt, because of a reputation that has been well earned from years of turdishness, Burfict will be flagged for this 99 times out of 100. We reap what we sow.

.@PFF: Clayton Fejedelem was the #Bengals most targeted safety vs the Titans & was also the most efficient secondary defender. He allowed 0.32 yards per snap in coverage & 1 reception in 25 snaps in coverage, despite being targeted once every 6.3 snaps he was on the field.

I'd hate to see Shaw's numbers. They were going at him heavily.

Fedj is solid. I’d start him and leave Shawn Williams on the bench.

I won't defend him this week, but I will add this. Shaw got abused three times because he hooked the WR when defending a double move. At least two other Bengal cornerbacks were flagged for using the same technique in this game. That can't be a coincidence.

Maybe not but how about playing the right technique, just once out of 3x? Learn from your mistakes.

This team is so undisciplined. So dumb.

Shaw single handedly extended 2 or 3 drives yesterday including the winning one.
