No general managers here either. I do see Bengals DC Lou Anarumo.
    Tuli!

I can't believe no GM's or Head Coaches went to a USC Pro Day.

Nick is a leader and an awesome person. This year I got to see how he stepped up for safer playing surface conditions. His interest, efforts to learn lesser-known details and desire to advocate for others was moving. Cheesy to say but a true “we, not me” guy. Best of luck.

    One more note from @uscfb
Pro Day - Andrew Vorhees was putting up 50 reps on the bench during Combine training.

He tore his ACL during drills and still put up 38 with only one good leg, but I just want it to be known that he’s a monster.

    Stephen Paea’s record lives…for now.

to bring a twitter convo here, the Chiefs currently have 6 guys with more than a $6M cap hit in 2023. The Bengals have 13, and that doesn't include Burrow/Chase/Higgins/Wilson.

The Bengals can't, and probably shouldn't, just go out and add more guys to that list.

Kansas City is the best run organization in the NFL. They always have a plan. Even after trading 2 draft picks for WR Toney, they still have 11 picks in the upcoming draft. The rich getting richer still.

Definitely true, but KC also just jettisoned several big pay guys like Orlando Brown, JuJu, and Frank Clark. Not disagreeing that they haven't done a good job - especially getting a lot of big contributors last year (and previously, with guys like Creed Humphrey, Trey Smith, Nick Bolton, etc.) from their draft class, even late round guys like Pacheco and some of their DBs. Which underscores your point.

But they are at different levels of evolution with their team salary construction, too. KC has Mahomes on a huge (but supposedly team-friendly, too) contract so they have had to adjust (e.g. getting rid of Tyreek's contract) with having young guys on smaller contracts, or signing vets on cheap deals and churning them. Comparatively, the Bengals haven't had to pay crazy money to JB (yet) and Tee and Chase, so they could afford to go out and in some cases, over-pay several guys in FA, and pay starter-level money for others.

But it's reached the point where the Bengals won't be able to do that as often, and it'll be imperative to have significant contributions from rookies and young guys on the roster., just like KC has done, And they will have to continue making hard decisions on some guys entering their second contract, like they did with Bates - and will with guys like Wilson and Tee. Re: FA, they will be able to do some deals, but they'll have to value the market appropriately and get value - like they just did with Brown and Scott.

I wasn't always a fan of Duke Tobin, and his team has whiffed badly at some positions (OL, most notably), but they have drafted really well the last few years and have knocked it out of the park in FA. Not only in getting guys who have helped to reshape the talent level, but also thelp to install the winning culture. So give credit where it's due - to Duke and his team for getting the right guys, and also for Zac and the coaches for identifying what they are looking for.

I know it's been talked about a lot re: the quality of the coaching staff they have, but kudos also to front office/personnel guys like Mike Potts and Steve Radecevic and Trey Brown. You wonder whether or not they'll be picked off for some other team for a larger role at some point. Hard to keep the band together.

    Great post, tex.

Yeah, Steve Radecevic always comes off in an impressive way. Seems to have a lot of responsibility. Hope the Bengals can keep him for years to come.
