Thread: Matt Forte in 2010

I would be surprised if Forte doesn't bounce back. He tore a hamstring in preseason and was just never right last year. I expect him to come close to his '08 numbers, rushing yards might be down with Taylor on the roster, but the average (3.6 last year) should go up and receiving numbers should be as good or better.

I just hope for the sanity of all Bears fans that they never have to sit through an entire game where they run the ball only twice the whole game because I had to watch that when Martz was running the offense in Detroit and that I would'nt wish on any fans.

To be fair, in 2006, after Kevin Jones and his 3.8 per carry got hurt, he was left with Arlen Harris and Aveion Caison.
In 2007, Kevin Jones started 10 games (3.8 again) and 5 more by Tatum "Swiper" Bell.
You can find Bell at your local Verizon Kiosk.

I think Chester Taylor and Matt Forte provide much better outside of the backfield opportunities for his offense in Chicago than Detroit. I mean, we had Kevin Jones, and he might have been a good player, but the multiple injuries killed his career. In fact, after Jones' season ended for the Bears, Khalil Bell looked like twice the back he was.

Agreed, Forte and Taylor are both much better out of the backfield than Kevin Jones. Martz is not averted to running the football, he is just of the mind that the passing game can set up everything rather than the run setting up the pass. If the Bears are winning football games I don't think the fans will care how exactly.

I had to laugh when I saw the Sun-Times were all over this on their website with an article and picture. You know people are jonesing for some football when a supplemental pick gets profiled.

Haha, I read those articles. Yeah, football seasons start too late in the year now.

I don't think Bears fans will be disappointed with Unga. They got him for a bargain. If he would have been allowed to play his senior year he would, no doubt, have been drafted higher. He is good at opening holes, pass protection and will be an excellent check down receiver out of the backfield for Cutler (if he doesn't throw it to the defensive end)...sorry Bears fans, I'm still bitter
