What type of 4-3 defense was Jim Johnson's Eagles defenses?

    Hi Cris,

What type of 4-3 defense was Jim Johnson's Eagles defenses? Was it a 1-gap, 2-gap, or a combo of both?

I've also heard his defense was the 4-3 equivalent of LeBeau's zone blitz defense. Is that true?

I heard he used strictly personnel groupings that featured 4 down linemen only. Is that true?

Any input from Eagles fans, or the pros is welcome.

    Thanks,

  2. Welcome to the team ebfz58. Jim (one of my all-time favorites) was almost always one gap. He wanted to get after the QB and create negative plays getting up the field. LeBeau is more 2 gap with his front 3. You can't talk to LeBeau without him singing the praises of his unsung heroes on the DL.

Thanks Cris. It's nice to be off the practice squad so to speak and finally make the roster. Haha.

    Thanks
