Thread: Initial thoughts from the Carolina game

Initial thoughts from the Carolina game

First of all: I don't think preseason means much, but it's fun to see how the team looks. More negatives than positives from last night.

    Some good
    - I was happy we didn't turn the ball over, it's been a while since I've seen that from the Giants.
    - JPP
-I don't remember Dodge screwing up... so that's good.

    Some bad
-Aaron Ross made 1 nice play but had several where I thought he got beat.
-Poor tackling from the Giants all night long.
-Coverage teams continued their poor play from last year, I think the new kickoff rule will help the Giants a lot.

Any word on Tynes? He took a nasty shot to the leg on the blocked FG.

According to Tynes, he doesn't think it's anything serious. He should be okay for the season opener if not for the next game.

But he's pissed there was no flag on the play. "Am I not the epitome of a defenseless player?"

Official word is a bruised thigh, but nothing was said about his return.

    My initial thoughts:

Eli looked rustier than a 90-year-old nail (in the first 10 minutes alone, he underthrew Bradshaw from about 3 yards away & overthrew Nicks when he was WIDE open).

For the third year in a row, I'm seeing a ton of missed tackles. Someone needs to tell these guys to wrap up & quit overpursuing. Again.

The secondary looks like they just rolled out of bed without stretching. Giving up big yards & touchdowns to Jimmy F'ing Clausen & Derek F'ing Anderson?!? Inexcusable. Remember, the Panthers only won two freaking games last season!

Apparently Tynes wants to make a run at Feely's record for missed field goals.

On the plus side, the D-Line looks good, as it always does. Especially Jason Pierre-Osi-Who?-Paul.
