Manning not ready for week one ?

I just watched Redksins-Colts pre-season.

Boy oh boy, if the Redskins have QB problems, they pale compared to Indianapolis's.

Painter and Orlovksy could barely complete a pass between them. Just brutal. Irsay was in the booth and he admitted they might look at a veteran free agent if Manning can't go.

The Colts are doomed if Manning's out for a while.

Bad news - clearly the Colts aren't sure Peyton will be ready for week 1. Good news - Curtis Paintlovsky probably not starting week 1.

Yeah, who's going to start week 1?

Kerry Collins, who doesn't know the playbook and doesn't have any timing with the receivers? Or the dismal Painter/Orlovsky? The Colts are in a pickle. I understand that Manning was always going to dominate and not leave any room for an understudy, but why have the Colts never seriously addressed the issue of a decent backup?

I've never seen a Colts backup QB look good in the Peyton Manning era.
