Week 4, 2011
3-1 at the end of the First Quarter. We're in good shape, though the passing game was meh for the second week.
Rant: Just a small one. Dear CBS, you've been broadcasting games for decades. You should never ever ever miss a snap. You missed two of them, one showing a highlight from Raiders/Bills and one showing the Raider sideline. Learn to cover the game in front of you.
Defense: We came into the game with no Pryor, no Albert, and a beat up secondary. We lost Mayo and Love along the way, Love came back. Missing 5 starters, we held them to 13 points outside of garbage time. We gave up yards, but made the key plays. Once we're healthy, we should be good on D.
Offense: The running game came through big time. Green Ellis played well, and so did Ridley. Woodhead hurt his ankle, and I was hoping that we'd see some Vereen, but we didn't. The passing offense was meh, once more. Again, it was the Welker show.
Running:
Brady: 1 kneel down
Edelman: 1 carry, -1 yards. Why is he being used as a running back? Every drive where he is fails.
Green Ellis: 18 carries, 72 yards, 1 TD
Ridley: 9 carries, 99 yards, 1 TD. A 1 yard carry was negated by defensive offsides.
Woodhead, 2 carries, 13 yards
Green Ellis was solid. Not great, but not bad. Ridley was lights out.
Passing:
Branch: 4 target, 1 catch, 5 yards, 1 TD. One non called defensive holding
Edelman: 2 target, 1 catch, 11 yards
Green Ellis: 1 target, 1 catch, 8 yards
Gronk: 5 targets, 1 catch 1 overthrow, 1 drop, 15 yards
Ocho: 2 target, 2 catch, 26 yards. 1 10 yard catch negated by illegal motion on Wes
Slater, 1 target, 1 overthrow
Welker: 15 target, 9 catch, 3 overthrow, 1 drawn illegal contact, 160 yards, 1 TD
Incompletes, target not known: 2
Sacks: 1
We need to stop being the Welker show. Ocho had his best day as a Pat. Branch has 1 catch in the last 2 games. It was a 5 yard TD, but he needs more production as the #1 wideout. Gronk was invisible after the first quarter. We need better play from the recievers not named Wes Welker.
The game was officiated well. Each team got away with one defensive passing call - holding for them, allegedly DPI for us. I don't think it was, but I'm willing to admit it might have been.
Overall, given the switch to the 4-3 and the defensive injuries, I'm happy with the 3-1 after 4 games. If we can beat the Jets and Cowboys, we'll be 5-1 at the bye.
Stats which may interest only me: Career Playoff Record: P. Manning 9-11, T. Tebow 1-1; Career Overtime Playoff Record: P.Manning 0-3, T. Tebow 1-0; Career Bronco Playoff Record: P. Manning 0-1; T. Tebow 1-1.
