Since we don't seem to attract Vikings' fans anymore - they must still be off somewhere celebrating Favre's MVP Award from last season, I thought I'd keep you all apprised of the latest happenings in Minnesota:

Twitter is a wonderful online forum for professional athletes to reach the public and remove any kind of filter when it comes to the message they want to spread.

It’s also a very dangerous environment where they can do damage to themselves.

That’s just what happened to Minnesota Vikings wide receiver Bernard Berrian, who engaged in some back-and-forth with followers on Sunday night and eventually told one fan to “sit down n shut up!!” It wasn’t just any fan, though. It was John Kriesel, a Minnesota state representative who is a double amputee and an Iraq war veteran.

Berrian is supposed to hold a press conference of sorts in the Vikings locker room this afternoon in an effort to clear up this mess. It all started Sunday night after the Vikings fell to 0-4 with a 22-17 loss to the Kansas City Chiefs. Berrian has two catches for 37 yards on the season and said that’s not a reflection of how open he’s been.

When Kriesel challenged him on Twitter, according to the Minneapolis Star Tribune, that’s when things took a turn for the worse.

Berrian wrote on his account @B_Twice: “@johnkriesel Anytime u wanna watch the film with me. Not just one game but all of them. And if not sit down n shut up!!”

By the way - Bill Barnwell at Grantland just named Berrian the worst player in the NFL for the first quarter of the season.

Oh, and the Lions are 4 games up on them as well.

Berrian has a catch rate of 12.5%. 12.5%!!! If you remove passes thrown his way, Donovan McNabb's completion percentage jumps up from 59% to 66%.

In Berrian's defense, and without knowing all the back and forth that went on, being an Iraqi war veteran, double amputee and state representative doesn't give Kriesel license to pile on the guy.

That said, Berrian has been horrible for years. I'm surprised the guy is still in the league.

That's my take. The guy wants to sling words, then you gotta take as well as give. Shaming him with your real-life status, after the fact, is dirty pool.

Alright, you guys are correct.

I'll come clean - I picked Berrian in round 6 of my fantasy pool last year.
