    Broadcasting question for Cris

My friend and I were watching the SNF game last night and during one of the cutaways to you and Al, I noticed you guys were sitting on just plain wooden stools. Do you guys sit on those for the whole game or is that just for the shots where you guys are going to be on TV? Thanks!

I'll jump in since Cris doesn't get to his own forum very often. Everyone in the booth just uses the same wooden stools that you see in the on-camera shots.

Wooden stools over leather chairs to eliminate the "farty" chair rubs on the air. =)

Thanks Andy! Is there any utility for the stools? Like, is it easier for them to have access to all of the replays and whatnot or is that just the easiest thing for everyone? I would have thought they use swivel chairs or something. Must be uncomfortable for a whole game.

I think there's an issue with seeing over the windowsill from the NBC booth.

Even at eight and a half feet tall, Cris needs to be perched to get a view at the ground. Reclined is just a physically impossible viewing position.

I'm not talking recliners or anything like that...just a chair with a back

I think even SNF has been hit hard by the recession and they have had to make cutbacks.

What's wrong with a good stool? In a performance-like setting, I personally enjoy the benefits of a stool. A chair with a back encourages slouching, turning into bad posture, which is a sign of laziness. You want to be on your toes, leaning forward, ready to stand at a moment's notice. Good posture makes you feel like you're on top of the situation, and will encourage you to not miss a beat.

I just feel like for a 3 hour game, a stool is a bit rough on the back. Maybe Cris is just that much of a professional that it's second nature to sit in a stool, but I can't see that being very comfortable!
